1 Corinthians 6:11 What you once were in terms of your lifestyle has radically changed! You have been cleansed, restored to total harmony (holiness) and made righteous. The name of the Lord Jesus declares your salvation; the Spirit of our God realizes salvation in you! (TMB)
Are you pulling out your big guns?
When the enemy comes in to show you your past, you can own it. You can also tell him, “That’s who I used to be.” Use Ephesians 2:3-5 to set him straight. By the way, this is also your overcoming testimony.
Ephesians 2:3 Among these [unbelievers] we all once lived in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by the sinful self], indulging the desires of human nature [without the Holy Spirit] and [the impulses] of the [sinful] mind. We were, by nature, children [under the sentence] of [God’s] wrath, just like the rest [of mankind].
Your testimony: I lived doing what I wanted to do, when I wanted to, and how I wanted to. I did not ask the Lord for His permission, and I did not need His guidance.
Ephesians 2: But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us,
Your testimony: God loved me and had mercy on me.
Ephesians 2:5 even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). (AMP)
Your testimony: Even though to the Lord I was spiritually dead, because my sins kept me separated from Him. He did the work. He brought me to Him. I did not deserve His favor and mercy. Yet, He saved me!
You can rejoice because salvation has washed you in the Blood of the Lamb, cleansed you, and made you right with God by His Spirit. You are forgiven. These are your big guns. They are always there for you to use. There is nothing the devil can say. There is no power he has that supersedes these truths.
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for saving me. I am changed. Thank You for cleaning up my heart. I can forgive and You forgive me. The enemy cannot torment me with my past. Those things I used to do; I no longer do. Those thoughts I used to think, I no longer think. Those words I used to say; I no longer say. I can stand boldly and say to the enemy, “My past is over!” I look forward to a new place in You every day…
