Hebrews 6:1

January 26

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God. (KJV)

Are you willing to allow God to grow you up?

A trick of the devil is to pull you into a moment where you reminisce about who you used to be and how you used to feel when you first got saved. Now, he doesn’t want you to give glory to God for that event. His strategy is diabolical. What he wants to do is make you compare what you currently feel with what you once felt. If he’s able to show you a difference in how you feel, he will also try to convince you there is something wrong with you. Ultimately, he wants you to question your salvation. You’ll try to do things to prove God saved you. If you are not continually maturing in Christ, the devil can be successful in convincing you did not get saved and you need to do the process over again. Stop him!

  • Either you are saved, or you are not.

1 John 5:11-13 And the testimony is this: God has given us eternal life [we already possess it], and this life is in His Son [resulting in our spiritual completeness, and eternal companionship with Him]. 12 He who has the Son [by accepting Him as Lord and Savior] has the life [that is eternal]; he who does not have the Son of God [by personal faith] does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God [which represents all that Jesus Christ is and does], so that you will know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have eternal life. (AMP)

  • Either you believe in God, or you do not.

1 John 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies confidently on Him as Savior] has the testimony within himself [because he can speak authoritatively about Christ from his own personal experience]. The one who does not believe God [in this way] has made Him [out to be] a liar, because he has not believed in the evidence that God has given regarding His Son. (AMP)

  • Either you are ready to move to develop a stronger walk in Christ, or you are not.

Hebrews 5:12  For though by this time you ought to be teachers [because of the time you have had to learn these truths], you actually need someone to teach you again the elementary principles of God’s word [from the beginning], and you have come to be continually in need of milk, not solid food. (AMP)

No matter how much you liked elementary school; you had to move on; it is the same with Christ. To be victorious in this war, mature in the things of God. Do not allow your emotions to rule you. Your salvation is not a feeling, it is a fact. Stand on it. With each new level in Christ, the enemy intensifies the warfare. It can sometimes make you forget the joy you felt when your salvation was new and you first believed. There is a remedy. At any moment you can say to God like David did, “restore unto me the joy of thy salvation”.

Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:

Father, I remember when I surrendered my will to You. I remember the joy I felt and the peace. Each day looked and felt new; I felt new. I wanted to continue to feel that way. I realize I can’t go back to that place; I repent for trying to recreate that moment and the distractions that pursuit caused. Thank You for forgiving me and letting me know You don’t want me to move backwards. You want me to use that moment as a launching pad and an altar. I can have the joy of Your salvation renewed in me. All I have to do is ask. I can spend more time with You and grow closer to You. I can experience new levels in You, higher heights and deeper depths. I will not allow the memories of the moment of my salvation to overshadow new moments with You. My salvation experience will always be in my memory. Thinking about it will always make me smile. I am continually looking forward to new memories You will make with me and I am excited…
