2 Peter 1:12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them and are established in the truth which is held firmly in your grasp. (AMP)
Are you walking in offense to words spoken in love?
When you have people in your life who love God, study the word and spend time with God; they will sometimes say things to you that challenge you. Depending on where you are emotionally, it may smart a bit. This is not your battle. Your battle is with your own emotions.
Proverbs 15:32 Those who disregard discipline sabotage themselves, but those who are open to correction gain understanding. (TVT)
You know what the word says, and they know it. They are not judging you. They are not finding fault in your behavior. They love you enough to tell you what they believe. They love God enough to comment on what they think they see. It may be something you are doing or did; something you are saying or said; or a position you are taking or have taken. Whatever it is, they felt it warranted a reminder. Sometimes it’s hard to hear. At that the end of the day, you want people in your life who will challenge you to continue to examine yourself through the word. You want people to point things out. Not beat you over the head, simply remind you. Yes, you have the Holy Spirit to bring back to your remembrance everything the father has taught you through prayer, study, etc.. That’s a good thing. However, the people who love you will say what they feel because they love you. They are teaching you to fight by helping you identify where the battle is.
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Father, I thank You for the people in my life who love me enough to remind me of Your truth. I repent for becoming irritated, for thinking they were judging me or thinking they had no right to speak to me. I know You sent the Holy Spirit to be my comforter, guide, and instructor. You also sent friends and a multitude of council. I thank You for the men and women who are that multitude and create safety for me. They speak to me and they are the iron that sharpens my iron. They love me through my responses even when I am not acting in a lovable fashion. They help me become spiritually mature. I pray they continue to do Your will, that I submit to their correction, and that You are glorified…
