Disciple Me

Duration: 12 weeks
Materials needed: Disciple Me book. Bible, materials to write notes, an open heart, and a teachable spirit.

Cost: Determined by class size and if you have not purchased the book/materials.

Description:
Now that you have accepted Christ invitation to salvation, how are you doing? Are you finding that you’re living the life you heard about before you got saved? Are you able to navigate the correct lanes? When you go to church are you as spectator watching from the sidelines, or are you able to jump right in? Do you take an observer’s position because you’re not quite sure what you’re supposed to be doing or if you’re supposed to be doing anything at all? Do you lift your hands because everyone else is lifting their hands? Maybe you are sitting there wondering if you are missing something that everyone else understands or feels.  In steps the enemy. He tells you the reason you are not feeling comfortable is because you’re not really saved. The reality is our salvation is not a feeling it is a fact. Salvation creates a relationship with the Father, through Jesus. Like any other relationship you have in your life, a relationship is only as good as the time, effort and energy you put into it. Your relationship with the Father has to be cultivated. You need to be discipled.

Being discipled is just like going to relationship school. You go from level to level, getting closer and closer to the Lord. You learn who God is. You learn how to align yourself with His wishes, not because you have to, but because the relationship is so amazing, you want to. You learn to seek the Lord for yourself, so you know what pleases Him. He will then help you identify those things you have changed in His creation and you submit to Him to correct the flaws you created. You come to terms with the ultimate life you were designed to live. No course can answer all the questions that you ever have. But the wonderful thing is you will learn how to go to The One who has all the answers. Then, as the Bible says, you wouldn't have any need for anyone to teach you. You will position yourself for God to teach you Himself. You need faith. There is a path and your feet need to be set on that path. If you will commit to studying and praying, your path will be made clearer as you reach for Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith. The topics we will discuss in detail are:

• Confidence in Your Salvation
• Learning to Hear God’s Voice
• The Work of the Holy Spirit
• How the Holy Spirit Works in You
• Spiritual Gifts
• Being Equipped for Battle
• Committing to the Body of Christ

Some of the topics are covered in more than one class.’

Energizing Your Ministry Area

When ministry leaders take on their role, they are often not sure of what they need to do next. As pastors identify the leaders, their desire is to guide them as they go. This course identifies a process that helps your ministry leader visualize where God is taking their individual area and helps them layout a plan to succeed.
There are 5 steps:

  1. Hearing God’s vision for your ministry area
  2. Identifying the goals for your ministry
  3. Setting milestones to accomplish the goals set (plan)
  4. Evaluating the goal fulfillment process
  5. Making alternations to the plan

Godly Communication

When we think about communicating we often feel that there are different ways to communicate depending on the people who we’re talking to. In reality, you can consistently be the same person no matter who you are speaking to. If you are a Christian, you rely on the power of God and you being yielded to His authority. If you are a member of some other religion, you also have a higher power you rely on. If you don’t believe in a higher power, I am sure you want to live peaceably. In order to do that we all need to learn to communicate better.

How you handle your ability to communicate dictates the level of peace you will have in all of your relationships. Relationships take on many forms and encompass a variety of human connections, i.e., romantic and nonromantic,  close and intimate, distant and challenging, and so many more adjectives. No matter the nature of the relationship, they all make up a huge and vital part of your life and can impact both your physical and mental well-being

Often we allow our individual personalities to dictate the type of relationship(s) we have.  That relationship may be with your:

  • Spouse or significant other. Communication and honesty are essential.
  • Family members, both those who are close and those who are distant.
  • Church Family
  • Non-romantic friendships
  • Acquaintances
  • Co-workers

This class teaches methods to navigate them all. As a Christian I will use the Bible to lay the foundation and provide guidance for this class. The foundational scripture is Romans 12:14-18

Evangelism

Evangelism training is important because it equips Christians to fulfill the biblical call to share their faith, which in turn deepens their theological understanding and faith, strengthens their love for God and others, and helps them become more like Christ. This training also transforms by creating outward focus, building faith in the next generation, and enabling believers to confidently share the gospel in their communities.
It is two parts.

Part I: For the Individual Believer:

  • Strengthens Faith and Discipleship
  • Deepens Love for God and Others
  • Fosters Growth in Christ-likeness
  • Builds Confidence and Overcomes Fear

Part II: For the Church Community:

  • Creates an Outward-Focused Culture
  • Meets a Divine Mandate
  • Fosters Church Growth
  • Generates Spiritual Renewal:

By actively participating in evangelism, the church body can experience spiritual renewal, growth, and a deeper sense of purpose.

The foundational scriptures are “Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Spiritual Warfare

This course that deals with warfare from a the perspective of understanding how the enemy came to be who he is, how he works and what we can do to defeat him. But the reason that we are here is because He is preparing us like never before to discern the sophisticated methods that the devil is using to gain entrance into the lives of people in this millennium so that we can get them free. In order to engage in the warfare that we have actually been a part of since the day that we got saved, there are some important things that we have to understand. Being saved does not give you the knowledge that you need in order to engage in spiritual warfare.

The foundational scriptures that we are going to use in this lesson are
“ Luke 14:28-31 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? (KJV)” and “Eph. 6:11-12 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)” In this course you will learn who, what, when, why, where and how of spiritual warfare.

Topics discussed will include:
1. The way the enemy operates
2. The way the enemy fought in the past
3. The allies that we have in the spirit realm
4. What is at stake
5. Where the battle takes place (the battlefield)
6. The enemy fully

Finishing the Task

Small Group Facilitation Training

If you are starting a small group, this is the class for you. The teachers have to be trained to facilitate and not lecture. They have to understand how to manage the class and encourage participation and learning. Small groups base their success on the “Deductive Discipling Approach”. This approach will develop the disciple through both large and small group exposure, strongly emphasizing disciple development while identifying and equipping individuals for leadership. This will ensure that persons are adequately connecting with other members of the congregation. Small groups are seen throughout every area of ministry. In order for small groups to attain the goals that are set for them, we must be trained. The Bible says to study to show yourselves approved a workman who does not need to be ashamed, but who rightly divides the word of truth.
Upon completing this course, each member will be able to:
1. Explain the value of the small group discussion in the learning process
2. Describe basic principles of group processes
3. Describe and develop effective strategies for:

  • Establishing a positive learning climate promoting interactive discussion
  • Dealing with common problems of group process
  • Dealing with the outspoken student

4. Recognize, describe and avoid the most common errors in facilitating small groups

The Leader as a Model

The role of a leader is to serve as a model for how things should be done, how we should react and respond within any environment. Every pastor desires the lay leaders of the church to be a “Model to the people”, a “Mainstay to the pastor” and a “ Mentor to potential leaders”. This teaching takes the qualifications of church leaders from I Timothy 3:1-12. It covers:
1. Leadership Issues:
  a. Credibility
  b. Transparency
  c. Character
2. Qualifications of church leaders are based on the Core Values for any church.
3. Living by the authority of the Scripture.
4. Commitment to ministry involvement.
5. Personal and corporate prayer and worship.
6. Loving and encouraging people.
7. Spiritual reproduction.

Intercessory Prayer

How to design your intercessory prayer ministry, select its members and train them. Intercessory is a calling, it is not the place for the pastor to determine if a person is or is not called to intercession. However, it is certainly the pastor’s call to determine who will serve on the intercessory prayer ministry with the church. Since this is such a critical area of the ministry you should prayerfully consider who will be placed here and then make sue that he or she is trained appropriately. Though the reward will not be monetary, the
benefits that will be received from increased prayer time and fellowship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can not be measured.

This course will teach how:
1. To assist believers to grow and develop a deep fellowship and relationship with God.
2. To instruct every believer, by teaching and example, to seek God for themselves.
3. To help every believer become a self starter and self initiator in their prayer life.
4. To help believers be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
5. To teach and facilitate corporate prayer in our body.
6. To develop strong prayer leaders.
7. To have a working plan when we pray.
