(KJV) \nWhy do you go to God? \nHave you ever asked a question to a superior\, a spouse\, or anyone else and they did not respond? Were they in the room with you? Were you texting back and forth\, or did you email? No matter how you were communicating\, did you wonder if they were listening to you or if they were ignoring you? It is wonderful to have a God who hears you and is listening to you. God gave you the liberty to ask Him whatever you want.  \nHebrews 4:16 Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is\, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear\, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing\, coming just at the right moment]. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nPlease don’t immediately jump to the conclusion He did not hear you or does not intend to respond to you\, simply because you did not get what you wanted\, when you wanted it\, and the way you wanted it. The important thing to remember is: if you want to get what you have asked for\, it must be what is according to the Lord’s will.  \n1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence (the assurance\, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan)\, He listens to and hears us. 15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask\, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nThough you can ask for what you want\, God is not obligated to give you what you want. His word says He will supply your need. You may think you know what you need. There may be times when you are in a situation; you access it; and you determine what’s required to deal with it. You go to God in prayer to ask Him to fix your situation. Even though you say the words\, “Have Your way in this situation”; you have an expectation. You want Him to give you what you have determined will fix the problem. You know He can; and you think He should do it your way. Do you have the correct heart posture?  \nJames 4:3 And if you ask\, you won’t receive it for you’re asking with corrupt motives\, seeking only to fulfill your own selfish desires. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nYou should go to God because you know whether or not He gives you what you want; He loves you and is there to hear you. God was there before you got to this point in your life. There is no one who knows what you need better than the God who created you. As you go to Him\, you give Him praise because He is Jehovah Shammah [ja-hō-va sha-ma] (The Lord is there). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather God\, I am thankful I come to You\, knowing You hear me. You want me to come to You. I am Your child. Just like I would go to my Dad\, as his child. Whatever I wanted\, I asked for. He didn’t always give it to me\, yet I always knew he was there\, and he loved me. The feelings he has for me pale in comparison to those You have. You are much greater. Like my Dad\, You don’t always give me what I ask for; You give me what I need. I repent for thinking I know what my needs are and how You should supply them. You have shown me\, time and time again\, if You had given me what I wanted\, I would not have been able to handle it or I would have been in a bigger mess than I was in. I’m grateful You know what I need. Whatever the situation is; You are Jehovah Shammah. You were there before I got there. You knew how it would affect me. You knew I would come to You. The wonderful thing is you don’t have to be motivated by what you think or the lies the devil whispers. You can stand n the word. \nJohn 15:7 But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nNo matter how many reasons you have\, remember Who you serve.  \n2 Corinthians 1:20 In Jesus we hear a resounding “yes” to all of God’s many promises. This is the reason we say “Amen” to and through Jesus when giving glory to God. (The Voice TVT) \nYou base how God responds to your prayers on who He is\, not who you are\, how hard you are praying\, nor what you have done. You don’t have the big picture. He always answers. It just may not be the answer you were looking for. You are a part of the household of faith\, where Jesus is the head of the house. (KJV) \nWhat happens when God does not answer you immediately?  \nThere are times when you pray\, and for you\, it is an emergency. You need the Lord to answer you right away. A day goes by\, and it does not seem like you have a solution\, then a week and possibly a month. You may try to work it out for yourself if you have not grounded your faith and belief in God. Since you don’t have all the information needed\, your interference can make things worse. Read the story of Sarah and Hagar (Genesis 16-18). You can choose to be importune\, as the friend in Luke 11:5-8 (* read it below). Ultimately\, you just have to wait. Waiting on God is only hard if you decide it is. God is faithful\, that should make the wait easy.  \nIsaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run\, and not be weary; and they shall walk\, and not faint. (KJV) \nThe problem you see as an emergency is just a steppingstone on the path. You must not waste time worrying. \nEphesians 5:15-16 Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor\, purpose\, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil]\, not as the unwise\, but as wise [sensible\, intelligent\, discerning people]\, 16 making the very most of your time [on earth\, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence]\, because the days are [filled with] evil. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nThe Lord can compensate for the faults or adverse effects of your issue and help you get back anything lost. Just read the story of Job. \nJob 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job and restored his fortunes\, when he prayed for his friends; also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nGod is not a respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). However you wait\, if you wait\, He will do the same for you. \n1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while\, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor]\, Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus\, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be\, establish and ground you securely\, and strengthen\, and settle you. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nYou can go back and read the devotional from October 17 and encourage yourself. Don’t wait until the battle is over; give Him praise now because He is Go’el [gō-el] (Kinsman Redeemer). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I confess\, in a lot of the situations I encounter\, I try to figure out what I need to do\, without consulting You. I have also come to You\, more times than I can count\, to ask You for the solution\, without waiting to hear Your response. Again\, I did what “I thought” was the right thing for me to do. I repented in those times and I will keep repenting until those times and situations are no more. Whenever I tell You waiting is hard; You show me I made waiting hard. I spent too much time trying to fix the situation myself before I brought it to You. All the while\, I was making things worse for me. When I was finally at the end of me\, I brought You “my emergency”. Now\, I look at my life differently. You have always had an unchanging\, expected end for my life. No matter what I may perceive to be a problem or an emergency\, Jeremiah 29:11 tells me\, You have a plan. I may not know all the details of the plan\, however\, I know You are the Planner. I know who You are. When I pray\, continue to help me wait for Your plan to unfold. I will come to You with everything I face. I repent for trying to do Your job. (KJV) \nWhat is the Lord speaking to you? \nIf you are listening\, you will hear from the Lord. When you are certain you heard from God\, what do you do?  \nRead what these powerful men and women did. \n\nSamuel in 2 Samuel 22.\nShiphrah and Puah in Exodus 1:17-20.\nElijah in 1 Kings 19:11-18.\nTamar in Genesis 38:1-30.\nJeremiah in Jeremiah 10:11-16.\nRahab in the Joshua 2.\nEzekiel in Ezekiel 43.\nGideon in Judges 6.\nMary\, the mother of Jesus\, in  Luke 1:28-38.\nJohn in the Book of Revelation. \n\nIn their own way\, they responded. Sometimes\, what you hear leads you to do something out of the ordinary. Whether it is spectacular or just new to you\, your assignment requires continued prayer because it is not you. It is God who will perform through you. There is no reason to think it won’t run smoothly\, right? In addition\, you want your friends\, loved ones and those whose opinion matters to you\, to believe you. What if it does not run smoothly (make sure you have God’s definition of smooth) and no one believes you? It may seem like you are standing alone. There are also some examples of that in the bible: \n\nJoseph (Genesis 37:1-44:9) it took 13 years from the dream to fulfillment.\nNoah (Genesis 6:11–9:19) it took 120 years for the request to build the ark until the flood.\n\nIf you are sure God has called you to complete a task\, even though is not happening immediately\, you must have faith.  \n\nYou can’t be moved by what you see.\n\n2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith [we regulate our lives and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things\, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk] not by sight or appearance. ( Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \n\nYou may never get the support you’re looking for. \n\nMatthew 28:20b “And lo\, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance\, and on every occasion]\, even to the end of the age.” (Amplified Bible AMP) \n\nYou can even put yourself out there and bumps in the road may make you give up. Why?\n\nBecause you don’t trust God? \nBecause you decided you missed God? \nBecause of some other reason you can provide? \n\n\n\nEcclesiastes 9:11 I returned and saw under the sun that — The race is not to the swift\, Nor the battle to the strong\, Nor bread to the wise\, Nor riches to men of understanding\, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all. (New King James Version NKJV) \nAs you are dealing with the wait\, a lack of support\, believing that you missed God\, or even giving up\, you are learning in the process. There is no loss or waste in God. In the midst of it all\, there is one thing you can know for certain. \nRomans 8:28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God\, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nIt takes the strength of God to endure. However\, He has a plan for your life. As you continue to seek Him\, worship and remain in His presence; He will reveal His plan.  \nPhilippians 1:6 And I am convinced and sure of this very thing\, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return]\, developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nAlways keep in mind\, God can sustain you\, keep you\, and complete every task He assigns to you. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I never thought it took strength to allow You to work through me. Then You reminded me of Moses’ journey from Egypt to the promised land. You explained to me it can be a difficult task to stand on what I believe. Father\, the human being in me\, with all of its frailties\, wants support from the people whose opinion matters to me. When they don’t support my decision or if they don’t understand me\, sometimes it makes me wonder if I actually heard You. I repent for wanting to trust them more than I was trusting Your Spirit within me. I need Your strength and Your grace. Not just to do a particular task You’ve assigned to me; I need You every day. I don’t want to wrestle with myself\, with others\, and especially not with You. You taught me\, a long time ago\, it is okay to miss You. It’s okay to believe\, with all my heart\, I heard You and be truly wrong. Missing You helps me fine tune my ability to hear You clearer. If pride is keeping me from stepping out or causing me not to believe it’s You; please deal with me. The problem is not whether I can trust You. (NLT) \nAre you choosing God’s way or yours? \nWhen you need to make a decision about some situation in your life\, who do you talk to? The natural instinct is to talk to someone. Are there people you talk to about different things? Is there a person for everyday living\, a different person for career choices\, a different person for the things of God\, etc. If God has truly blessed you\, you have one person in your life you can talk to no matter what situation or issues are being addressed. However\, because you are a child of God\, He is always there and will talk to you about everything. And really\, the natural instinct should not govern your actions anymore. You should have a new spiritual nature. \nJohn 10:27 My sheep hear my voice\, and I know them\, and they follow me: (KJV) \nThe spiritual man seeks God for solutions. Why? Because God is omniscient\, and He has the answers to every situation in your life. Now the answers He has may not be the ones you want. Trust Him\, He knows what’s best. He knows everything about you. He created you and He knows your purpose.  \nRomans 8:29 For he knew all about us before we were born and he destined us from the beginning to share the likeness of his Son. This means the Son is the oldest among a vast family of brothers and sisters who will become just like him. Various people have asked me\, from the time I could talk\, “What do you want to be when you grow up”? I did not necessarily set a course for my life\, however\, I had a course set. My parents had ideas\, as did my teachers and others who were in authority in my life. I went to school. I did my work. The day came when I had to decide what my college major was going to be and what career I was going to have after I completed college. You have taught me that there is nothing wrong with having desires for my life. However\, I know I have to make sure I get my desires from You. Your word says in Psalms 37:4\, If I delight myself in You\, You will give me the desires of my heart. What an amazing revelation You provided for me when You gave me understanding about that passage is. If I take pleasure in Your presence\, You will give me what to desire\, which is You. Your word says\, if I seek You first\, You will give me all the other stuff. I have a new plan for my life. My plan is to be the child of God You ordained for me to be before You formed the world. If you will ask God\, He will give you what you need. You must ask in faith and according to His will.  \nHebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. The path the Lord wants you to walk through is the one leading directly to Him. Jacob’s life is a pattern for Christians. Jacob struggled with God his entire life. As he matured in faith\, he depended on God more and more. The turning point for Jacob came the last night of his journey back home from his search for a wife. He knew he was going to see Esau\, and the thought of that encounter troubled him (Genesis 32). When the night was over\, the Lord broke him\, and also made him new (Genesis 32:22-32). \nGenesis 32:28 And He said\, Your name shall be called no more Jacob [supplanter]\, but Israel [contender with God]; for you have contended and have power with God and with men and have prevailed. Though that is true\, I know I have tried to wrestle with You on more than one occasion. (NKJV) \nWho are you getting your answers from? \nWhen you don’t know what to do\, yet you know something needs to be done\, who do you ask first. Do you go to the people you believe to be spiritual or knowledgeable? Do you talk to your friends\, prayer partner\, spiritual mentor\, pastor\, etc.? There is nothing wrong with that. God placed these people in your life to be a support to you. Sometimes you can have too much support. You can have so many different answers to the same question that you struggle with what to believe. Why not go directly to the source? Do you remember to ask God\, first? \nPsalms 121:1-2 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord\, Who made heaven and earth. (New King James Version NKJV) \nThe Lord you serve is omniscient. The wisdom God gives is unaffected by the status of your problem\, what you feel\, or what you see. Here are some reasons you ask God for the answers:  \n\nGod will help you through your situation without being condescending or scolding you. \n\nJames 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance]\, he is to ask of [our benevolent] God\, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame\, and it will be given to him. (Amplified Bible AMP) \n\nGod doesn’t just have wisdom\, He is wisdom.\n\nProverbs 2:6 Wisdom is a gift from a generous God\, and every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a fountain of understanding within you. (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nYou know He hears you and will answer you because you are living the life He has called you to live.\n\n1 John 3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him\, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. (New King James Version NKJV) \n\nYou know\, on your best day\, you don’t have the solution.\n\nProverbs 14:12 You can rationalize it all you want and justify the path of error you have chosen\, but you’ll find out in the end that you took the road to destruction. I know there are times when I have taken that scripture to an extreme limit. When I did\, the safety the counsel was supposed to provide to me\, only created confusion. There were too many voices. Too many people trying to help me understand what was going on and tell me how to deal with it. I thank You because You are there. I repent for not coming to You first. You have the answers. I don’t have to guess. I don’t have to figure it out. All I have to do is ask You. The problem was\, by the time I asked You I could not hear what You were saying. My spirit and my mind was cluttered with the things everyone else\, including myself\, had said. You taught me I needed to be still. Through the years\, I have learned how to wait and how to be still in Your presence. You have taught me a decision made in uncertainty is destined to be the wrong one. You have taught me acting out of emergency will cost me. Thank You for teaching me through my experiences and tests that You know what’s best for me. I have also found it is in my best interest not to think or decide on my own; I cannot survive without You; and I don’t want to live independently from You. I will gladly  be Your sheep. What do you bring?  \n\nDo you say prayers that identify your sin? \nDo you make promises not to sin again and ask for forgiveness? \nDo you cry sometimes? \nDo you come seeking mercy because the Holy Spirit convicted you (you got caught)? \n\nIf you do any or all these things\, you were either taught to\, read it\, or modeled your prayers after ones you have heard. Remember\, God is the Almighty God. He looks directly into your heart. Your words may fool people\, however\, you cannot fool God. Make sure you are not just going through the motions. That behavior only satisfies your flesh; it doesn’t please God. Those types of prayers are just performance and show no reverence. Give God what is deserving of the Creator of heaven of earth.  \nPsalms 51:16-17  For You do not desire sacrifice\, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit\, A broken and a contrite heart — These\, O God\, You will not despise. (New King James Version NKJV) \nThe only acceptable thing to bring the Father is a heart broken with sorrow because of the sin. You come to him boldly\, yet humbly giving Him praise\, worship\, and honor for who He is. Remember\, He is the creator of the universe.  \nMatthew 6:9-13 Pray like this: “Our Beloved Father\, dwelling in the heavenly realms\, may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn.10 Manifest your kingdom realm\, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth\, as it is in heaven.” (The Passion Translation TPT) \nYou don’t come because you got caught and you are trying to escape the consequences. You come to repent because of conviction and get help to turn away from unacceptable behavior and keep turning to God.  \nPsalm 51:1-2 God\, give me mercy from your fountain of forgiveness! I know your abundant love is enough to wash away my guilt. Because your compassion is so great\, away this shameful guilt of sin. Forgive the full extent of my rebellious ways\, and erase this deep stain on my conscience. If the situation had not gone to the left\, I probably would not have come to You about it. Again\, I repent. Just thinking about it brings me to my knees. I know that kind of behavior grieves You. The drama\, the tears\, the falling on the floor and all the emotions have to be real. If not\, I’ve gotten everything I am going to get\, an emotional release. I might also get the sympathy or the empathy from those who are watching\, which would provide for some internal relief. I don’t want that life. I want to come to You because I know I am wrong whether or not I am “caught”. The Holy Spirit always shows me when I am wrong. Even though I may try to rationalize it\, wrong is wrong. There’s no gray area with You. I can’t be partially obedient. I bring to You the sacrifice You require. My heart is broken for every wrong I commit; I repent and I do not want to do them again. And yes\, God loves you.  \n1 John 3:1a See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown\, bestowed on) us\, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! I asked my Daddy questions\, on many occasions\, as I was trying to understand all aspects of salvation and discipleship. What I understood\, for a long time\, was all I had to do was get saved and everything would be okay. Ultimately\, that statement was and is true; everything will be okay. However\, in the time between the day I got saved\, and the day I will come to heaven to be with You; I need a refuge\, a guide\, a judge\, a confidante\, and\, most importantly\, a Lord. There will be choices I can and will make that can move me from under Your shelter. Salvation is free\, everything else will cost me. The cost is my life. The enemy does not want me to be with You. I need You to help me stand\, no matter what darts the devil throws at me. Please help me make sure I don’t gamble away my peace. Help me remember You are my safe place\, my shelter from the pursuit of the enemy\, my guide through danger and trouble when I make choices that satisfy whatever my fleshly need is at the moment. (KJV) \nDo you believe God will provide for you? \nDo you know what resources any of your friends have available for you to use at any given moment? Maybe you think you do. Maybe you have determined the ones who have money; who have influence; who have access to certain perks\, etc. Do you sometimes ask the “appropriate” person for what you need\, hoping they will take care of the problem? There is nothing wrong with asking. There is nothing wrong with thinking your friends should help you out. However\, your first step\, when you are facing a problem\, is to go to God.  \nRomans 8:31-32 So\, what do you think? With God on our side like this\, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us\, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son\, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? (The Message MSG) \nYou don’t have to figure out how God is going to meet your need; He has already figured it out. He knows what you have need of before you ask (Matthew 6:8). He can supply your need\, supernaturally or naturally; just remember\, He is the one who is supplying the need. You can find a supernatural example of God’s provision in the story of Abraham and Isaac (see devotional on March 16th). Encourage yourself with these truths\, He can and will provide for you because: \n\nHe is your Father.\n\nEphesians 1:5 He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ\, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will. It is presumptuous on my part to think I can go to them\, and they should automatically provide those resources to fix my problem. I repent for every time I did not make the right choice and come to You first. Because I give\, You promised to give unto me. You may choose to fix the problem supernaturally. You may impress upon one of my friends or someone completely unknown to me to fix it some other way. However You fix it\, You will fix it completely without strings and everybody will be at peace. When I try to do it without consulting You\, it goes wrong. Often I have felt bad because my friend could not or would not help. My friend may have felt bad that I asked\, without knowing their situation. Maybe it was bad timing\, and my friend couldn’t do it. Maybe my friend did not want to do it and felt pressure because of the friendship. It is dangerous to put people in the place You should be. It is dangerous to hold a person to a standard they cannot live up to because they are not You. You are Jehovah Jireh. All of my provision is in You. You meet my need and even some of my wants. You do it in the way You see fit for the situation I’m going through and that supports Your purpose and plan for my life. There is training and growth for me\, if I allow You to take care of it. You always do what You do. How\, because it becomes difficult and a strain to interact with those you are in a relationship with. \nColossians 3:12-13 Since you are all set apart by God\, made holy and dearly loved\, clothe yourselves with a holy way of life: compassion\, kindness\, humility\, gentleness\, and patience. 13 Put up with one another. Forgive. Pardon any offenses against one another\, as the Lord has pardoned you\, because you should act in kind. (The Voice TVT) \nYour conversations are short and functional when they were not that way between you before. If you are the one who caused the problem\, you have to admit it. You may say\, “It was not my fault\, I did nothing wrong\, I was just playing\, it’s not that serious\, etc.” However\, when your friend\, co-worker\, family member\, etc. shares an offense\, addressed it. Allow him/her to explain. Even if you don’t remember\, agree\, or see it the same way. You don’t have to own it\, nor justify it. However\, you do need to acknowledge it. \nMatthew 5:23-24 So if when you are offering your gift at the altar you there remember that your brother has any [grievance] against you\, 24 Leave your gift at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother\, and then come back and present your gift. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nWhat if the situation was reversed? How would you want to be handled? You don’t have to wait until your  friend\, co-worker\, family member\, etc. comes to you. Don’t allow the enemy to whisper in your ear. Don’t fill your head with negativity\, phrases like  “I should have known; I won’t allow anyone this close to me again; People are all the same; Who needs friends\, etc.” \, don’t represent God. Also\, you are not showing maturity if you drag around an offense\, pretending to be over it when you are not. Actually\, it is quite the opposite of mature. Give the Lord praise because He made provision for this situation as well; you address it. \nMatthew 18:15 If your brother wrongs you\, go and show him his fault\, between you and him privately. If he listens to you\, you have won back your brother. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC)  \nIt does not matter which category you fall into\, and the offender/offense may change from situation to situation. The Bible requires you to deal with it. If anyone has offended you; the responsibility lies with you. You can’t make anyone do anything; you put your blessings at risk\, waiting for someone to come to you. If you are the one who committed the offense\, the Holy Spirit will let you know. You can choose to ignore it; however\, you lose your ability to offer gifts to the Father. Be who God has called you to be. \nEphesians 4:2 With tender humility and quiet patience\, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another\, especially toward those who may try your patience. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nThen you have to forgive\, or God will deal with you as you deal with others (Matthew 6:12).  \nEphesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness\, passion\, and anger. No more shouting or insults\, no more hateful feelings of any sort. 32 Instead\, be kind and tender-hearted to one another\, and forgive one another\, as God has forgiven you through Christ. (Good News Translation GNT) \nYou don’t want to put anything between you and your relationship with God. You must deal with the situation; be honest with the Father about how you feel. Go to Him in prayer and He will show you want to say and what to do. If you are obedient\, God will heal your situation and mend your relationship. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, for as long as I can remember\, I have said\, “The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much.” I applied that scripture to whatever I was praying about. I repent for believing it meant I could have whatever I thought I needed or wanted. I didn’t understand the focus of that scripture was healing. You showed me that scripture was dealing with a broken heart and broken relationship. You have made it abundantly clear to me there’s no way to have a relationship with You\, and I don’t have a relationship with those I see every day. Broken communion\, in the natural\, negatively affects my communion with You. I can’t ignore disagreements. I can’t pretend like the tension doesn’t exist. I can’t sweep it under the rug. I can’t tell anyone to get over it or force myself to get over it. Many of the people around me have considered characterized me as confrontational. Somehow\, they made sure I knew that was not a compliment. As a result\, I spent a lot of years trying to go with the flow and let things roll off my back. I repent for messing with Your design; I had no right. You put that in me. I did not choose to be this way. You are teaching me how to confront issues in Your strength\, in Your power\, and mostly in Your Love. Thank You. I don’t want to have tense interactions with those who name the name of Christ and even those who don’t\, even though I know sometimes I will. You are Jehovah Rophe\, You can bring healing to any and every situation. You are the God of reconciliation. I thank You for giving me understanding. (KJV) \nAre you still trying to fix yourself? \nAre you one of those people who believe you can use problem-solving skills to change? Theoretically\, it seems possible. However\, from a practical standpoint\, though it may work for a time\, you don’t have the capacity to sustain the change. The basic premise for all problem solving is to determine the problem. You can rehearse the situation and try to identify what went wrong. You can think you have come up with the reason. The real problem is sin. Don’t get bent out of shape and start to think the worse because of the word\, “sin”. Here are a couple of meanings that will help you understand why sin is the problem: \n\nYou missed the mark God set for you. \n\nIsaiah 53:6 Like wayward sheep\, we have all wandered astray. Each of us has turned from God’s paths and chosen our own way; even so\, Yahweh laid the guilt of our every sin upon him. (TPT) \n\nYou went beyond God’s set boundary or limit. \n\nActs 17:26 This God made us in all our diversity from one original person\, allowing each culture to have its own time to develop\, giving each its own place to live and thrive in its distinct ways. (The Voice TVT) \n\nYou were going in the direction God was leading and somehow you strayed off course. \n\nRomans 3:11-12 No one understands [no one intelligently discerns or comprehends]; no one seeks out God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become unprofitable and worthless; no one does right\, not even one! (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \n\nYou are now on an alternate course not going in the direction God intended for you to go. \n\nProverbs 14:12-13 What you think is the right road may lead to death. 13 Laughter may hide sadness. When happiness is gone\, sorrow is always there. (Good News Translation GNT) \nYou don’t have the power to solve a sin problem. Rules can’t fix it\, God sent the Ten Commandments\, and the people continued to sin. You can try to employ mind over matter. You can do the twelve-step\, ten-step\, or however many steps programs\, the problem is still there. You can even begin to “speak the word over yourself.” Paul describes the situation in Romans 7:14-25 (read below). You are just like he was\, understanding what God desires\, wanting to be obedient. And just like Paul\, there is a problem. Will you also recognize that it is a sin issue\, a part of human nature? Yes\, God saved you\, actually your spirit man\, and translated you from darkness to light. However\, salvation doesn’t exempt you from doing the wrong thing. Your soul must be saved\, and that is your job. It is not something you can talk yourself into\, it requires action. You must be obedient. \nPhilippians 2:12-13 So then\, my dear ones\, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm]\, not only in my presence\, but now much more in my absence\, continue to work out your salvation [that is\, cultivate it\, bring it to full effect\, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ]. 13 For it is [not your strength\, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you\, both to will and to work [that is\, strengthening\, energizing\, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nThe ultimate conclusion is you can’t fix yourself. Don’t give up. You\, like Paul\, can pray and walk in obedience to God’s word. Then you can praise and give glory to God. He will fix you because He is Jehovah Mekaddishkem [ja-hō-va ma-kā’-dish-kim] (The LORD that Sanctifies You). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I first want to repent even before I begin to pray. I have wasted so many days\, years even\, trying to fix myself. I’ve read the self-help books and tried to apply the logic. I’ve done the problem-solving matrices. The reality is\, no matter how intelligent I am\, or what courses I have taken or will take; I do not now\, nor ever will have the power to fix myself. Yes Sir\, I want to do what You called me to do. I want to be obedient. I really do. My flesh gets in the way. I had to ask the same question Paul did\, “Who can separate me from the wretched person I am?” I thank You that You are Jehovah Mekaddishkem. You are the one who sanctifies me. I had to be obedient to Your word and allow the power\, that only You have\, to clean me up. Thank You for placing the coal on my lips and on my heart. Thank You for continuing to burn out everything that is not like You. I submit to You\, please sanctify me holy unto You every day of my life. Your sanctification makes me fit to be a vessel You can use. I live my life with one desire: to be completely submitted to You. There are days when I believe I make You proud. However\, there are other days when I am sure I don’t and I repent. The wonderful thing for me is that whether I think I have done well or I have not done well\, my place with You does not change. Thank You for being there as I continually ask You to cleanse my heart. Thank You for reminding me I am righteous because of what You did for me\, not because of those days when I think I made You proud. I have Your guarantee. I am acceptable. I know You are there to deliver me out of every situation. I was reluctant\, concerned about being rejected\, and even a  little fearful. Thank You for correcting me. Waiting for someone to ask me\, it’s not enough. What if no one asks? I got out of my way. I am no longer reluctant. You told me not to concern myself with being rejected; I should concern myself with the souls of the lost. You reminded me You have not given me a spirit it of fear\, not even a little bit. Then You reminded me of what we used to say at church when we would go out canvassing. They will not seek; they must be sought. They will not come; they must be brought. They will not study; they must be taught. You have called me as a co-laborer with Christ. I have to witness as I go and as I live. My response\, to life’s questions\, has to be one that brings the direction and the attention to You. It’s Your command. I repent for thinking I should be a witness\, as if there is a choice. I am a witness. My life is speaking because someone is watching whether I realize it or not. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nIsaiah 26:3 He will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him. (KJV) \nDo you really want peace? \nHave you ever said\, “I just want some peace.”? Sometimes life can be really hectic. You have problems to solve. You have children to attend to. You have church services to attend. You have ministries to lead. You have to go to work. The world has equated peace to “me time”. When you get your “me time”; do you really have peace? Or do you spend your “me time” thinking about the things you are not getting done or will have to do when this “me time” is over. \nJohn 16:33 “And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows\, but you must be courageous\, for I have conquered the world!” (The Passion Translation TPT) \nHow do you access and maintain the peace that God provides? How do you keep your mind on the Father continually? Though it may seem like it\, it’s not easier said than done. You just have to do it. \nThere is no set formula or 5\, 10\, or 15 step process  to seeking peace. You have to find what works for you. Here are some things you can do: \n\nDefine peace.\n\nThe first thought that may come to you is peace is where there is no fighting\, all is quiet and there is nothing you have to do. \nJohn 14:27 “I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world\, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead\, be courageous! (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nSeparate lies from the truth.\n\nOften when you are going through you allow the enemy to whisper in your ears. The worst-case scenario is what he brings. Destructive self-talk adds to the fears and rules your heart. \n2 Corinthians 10:5 We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nStop trying to control everything\, surrender control to the Lord.\n\nAre you preventing your peace because you are trying to control the situation? You being in control is an illusion created by the enemy. You cannot and will not ever be in control\, only God is. \nPhilippians 4:6-7 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything\, but in every circumstance and in everything\, by prayer and petition (definite requests)\, with thanksgiving\, continue to make your wants known to God. 7 And God’s peace [shall be yours\, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ\, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is\, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nYou have to run hard after peace. \nPsalms 34:14 Depart from evil\, and do good; seek peace\, and pursue it. (KJV) \nDecide you are going to keep your mind on God and do it. Evaluate your words and your deeds all day\, every day. Peace is available for you because you live continually in prayer and you praise Jehovah Shalom [ja-hō-va sha-lōm ]   (The LORD our Peace). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I want peace; I never thought I had to pursue it. I just thought\, if I asked for peace\, You would give it to me. The reality is You’ve already given it to me. Now I have to get rid of the things in my life keeping me from accepting it. This is where the battle is\, in my actions\, words\, deeds\, and thoughts. I repent for allowing the enemy to keep me from running hard after the peace You provided for me. I repent for thinking if I did not have peace; it was someone else’s fault. Thank You for teaching me I have to pursue Your peace by rejecting thoughts that don’t speak of Your peace. I have to cast down the imaginations\, of the enemy and my own\, trying to exalt themselves above the knowledge of You. I have to praise You and always speak of Your goodness and Your glory. You know what’s best. I have to rest in You and look for Your hand in every situation. I have to stop trying to figure things out\, work things out and make things happen without You. Then I will have the peace that has always been available to me. The Lord strong and mighty\, the Lord mighty in battle. (KJV) \nDo you believe God can finish His work in you? \nHave you ever been told you would not fulfill your destiny? Have you ever felt like what God has for you is too lofty? Does it seem like it will not happen or maybe you misunderstood what God said? Do you think the human part of Jesus Christ had similar thoughts a time or two? Noah\, Moses\, Paul\, Martin Luther King\, Nelson Mandela\, and many others probably did as well. They all understood their walk was by faith and not by sight. The time came when the fulfillment of God’s vision for their lives put all the naysayers\, doubters and those who purposed to stand in the way of success to shame. \n1 Peter 3:14-16 Even if you should suffer for doing what is right\, you will receive a blessing. Don’t let them frighten you. Don’t be intimidated\, but exalt Him as Lord in your heart. Always be ready to offer a defense\, humbly and respectfully\, when someone asks why you live in hope. Keep your conscience clear so that those who ridicule your good conduct in the Anointed and say bad things about you will be put to shame. What He’s promised to do with and in your life\, He will do. \nPhilippians 1:6 And I am convinced and sure of this very thing\, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return]\, developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. Your success in this battle is not yours\, it’s the Lord’s. Though these seem like a list of religious slogans or nifty clichés you have heard over and over in your life\, they are still true. \n1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while\, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor]\, Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus\, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be\, establish and ground you securely\, and strengthen\, and settle you. \nGive praise\, glory and honor as you pray to Elohei Ma’uzzi [ē-lō-hī  my-ū-zē] (The God of My Strength). The footprints in the sand belong to Him as He fights for\, with\, and through you. \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I know the enemy tosses this question in the ring and whispers it in my ear to gain ground in my life. I repent for giving it more than a second of thought. My flesh would cause me to spend more time because things may not be going the way I was expecting them to. Do I believe You can finish the work You’ve begun in me? Yes\, I believe You can. You are God and You can do all things. I gave the question some weight because I thought I had to know what Your completed work looked like on me. How would I know when I got to the completion point? Would it be when I accomplished my goals? Would it be when I accomplished what others said I should do? Would it be when I accomplished what I believed You directed me to do? I know You want my life transformed into Your image. What does Your image look like on me? It is never a matter of whether You can complete the transformation work You desire to do in me. I repent for making it a matter of how and when You will complete the work. I may not get knocked to my knees and blinded like Apostle Paul. I may not have a dream like Dr. King. There may not be fiery bush in my past\, my present\, or my future\, like Moses. I may not really be sure what Your completed work looks like for me. Heaven may be my only certainty about Your “expected end” for my life. However\, there are some things I do know and I am certain of\, You know what finished looks like in me; You have a plan for me; and You will keep working in me until it’s done. When You e finish\, I will be perfect and entire; I will want for nothing; and You will say\, “Well done”. I will not stop moving forward in You. I will continue to seek You and allow my life to unfold before my eyes. I thank You for fighting for me. Thank You for keeping me from straying from You\, in search of a goal I laid out. There is a song that was sung in my church when I was little. The lyrics are: \nWhere do I go\, when there’s nobody else to turn to? Who do I talk to\, when nobody wants to listen? Who do I lean on\, when there’s no foundation stable? I go to the rock. I know He’s able. I go to the rock. I go to the rock of my salvation. I go to the stone that the builders rejected. I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me. When the earth all around me is sinking sand. On Christ the solid rock I stand. When I need a shelter. When I need a friend\, I go to the rock. (I Go to The Rock\, Dottie Rambo) \nYou may want to call your friends\, however\, you need to call on the Lord. To get to the place where you call on the Lord first\, you must be diligent in your pursuit of Him. Here are some things you must do to seek Him and find Him. If you do these things\, He will bring them back to your memory in times of trouble. \n\nSpend worship and celebration time with the Lord\, don’t just go to Him when there is something wrong.\n\nHebrews 13:15 Through Him\, therefore\, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise\, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. \n\nTalk to Him about His faithfulness; as you remind Him\, you will remind yourself.\n\nLamentations 3:22-23 How enduring is God’s loyal love; the Eternal has inexhaustible compassion. 23 Here they are\, every morning\, new!  Your faithfulness\, God\, is as broad as the day. (The Voice TVT) \n\nTell Him how you see Him in all of your circumstances\, especially the difficult ones.\n\nRomans 8:35a\, 38-39 For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles\, pressures\, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions\, deprivations\, dangers\, and death threats? No\, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love\, 38 So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death\, life’s troubles\, fallen angels\, or dark rulers in the heavens. (Amplified Bible AMP) \n\nPrayerfully read His Word. This time is in addition to the time you have set aside.\n\n2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God\, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed\, rightly dividing the word of truth. (KJV) \n\nYou are building a relationship\, and that takes sacrifice.\n\nMatthew 16:24-25 Then Jesus said to his disciples\, “If you truly want to follow me\, you should at once completely reject and disown your own life. And you must be willing to share my cross and experience it as your own\,[a] as you continually surrender to my ways. 25 For if you choose self-sacrifice and lose your lives for my glory\, you will continually discover true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for yourselves\, you will forfeit what you try to keep”. As you make every attempt to keep your mind on God\, the days when you feel overwhelmed will be fewer and fewer. You will instinctively draw near to God and tell Him your troubles. \nPsalms 91:14-15 “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life\,” says God\, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer\, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you\, then throw you a party”. (The Message) \nIsn’t it great to tell the Divine Problem Solver your problems? If you’re like me\, He will show you at what point you started working in your own strength and bring you back to center. He is an ever-present help. \nGive praise as you pray to Jehovah Nissi [ja-hō-va nee-see ] (The LORD our Banner). He gives you victory in battle. When the enemy comes in like a flood\, He raises a banner of His love over you and covers you. \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I am guilty of running to friends\, family\, mentor\, or pastor in the time of trouble. I repent because that was the wrong thing to do. I am sorry for insulting You. That I would ask anyone but You what I should do is immature on my part. Though I was grateful they were there\, often they simply could not help me. Sometimes they didn’t want to hear it because they have heard it all before or they were dealing with their own problems. Most times they didn’t have a solution for me\, just a listening ear. Father\, thank You for teaching me the minutes/hours I spent thinking about an issue or rehearsing a conversation\, did not make things better. You are Jehovah Nissi. I should and will come to the One who gives me victory. You have the solutions. You help me stand. Though storms of life will rage\, I have hope because You cover me and sustain me. The banner of Your power waves around me. My soul is anchored in You. No matter how dark a day has been or may be\, You are the light of my life. Even when the situations passes\, You will continue to sustain me because You are my Banner. Your enemies will cringe before you\, and you will stomp on their backs!” (KJV) \nAre you allowing the enemy to quiet your voice? \nYour responsibility\, to carry the gospel everywhere you go\, is your labor of love for the Lord. You carry the good news of Jesus in everything you do: your personality\, your stand on issues\, your willingness to stand up for what you believe in (even when you are standing alone)\, your refusal to go with the flow just because everyone else is doing it\, etc. The enemy will try to stop you and make you conform. One of his most useful weapons is rejection and criticism. \nJohn 15:18-19 If you find that the world despises you\, remember that before it despised you\, it first despised Me. 19 If you were a product of the world order\, then it would love you. But you are not a product of the world because I have taken you out of it\, and it despises you for that very reason. (The Voice TVT) \nThe devil will come against you with everything in his arsenal. How does he do it? \nJohn 10:10a  The thief does not come except to steal\, and to kill\, and to destroy. (New King James Version \nNKJV) \nWhat is his methodology? He will start at the outer circle of your life and make his way all the way to the inner circle\, using people to create circumstances and problems. It is not flesh and blood you are fighting against; it is spiritual wickedness manifesting in people who allow themselves\, knowingly or unknowingly\, to be used. Initially\, the damage won’t be as much because he is using people whose opinions don’t really matter to you: new acquaintances\, short-time associates\, long-lost relatives\, co-workers\, etc. As he makes his way to the inner circle\, he enlists the help of long-time friends\, mentor\, pastor\, husband\, wife\, and children. The hurt gets more and more painful the closer the person is to you. You tell yourself\, it’s one thing for an almost stranger to say or do something to you. It’s another thing when it’s your child\, your spouse\, or your friend from kindergarten. \n“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” -Victor Frank (Holocaust survivor\, neurologist\, psychiatrist) \nWhat intensifies the hurt you feel and causes you to back down? You take it personally. The Bible tells you\, nothing will by any means hurt you; but you have to believe it and choose your response. (Yes\, you choose how you will respond to any situation.) \nProverbs 19:11 Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger\, And it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment]. (Amplified Bible \nAMP) \nMaybe you have not mastered that level of self-control yet\, or you do not have the strength\, on your own\, to stand up to criticism or rejection. Because God is He your way\, He will give you what you need to keep going. You will not stop because of the hurt and one day you will choose not to hurt. You are an example of the power of God\, in what you say\, in how you respond\, and in the love you share\, in spirit\, and in faith. \n2 Corinthians 12:9-10 But he answered me\, “My grace is always more than enough for you\, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses\, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. 10 So I’m not defeated by my weakness\, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my love for Christ—I am made yet stronger. As you pray\, ask Him to grant you the wisdom and grace to speak His truth by faith every day. He will not allow His word to return unto him void and He will cause it to accomplish His will in all that you think\, say\, and do. Take time to give Him praise now and forevermore because he is Jehovah Chereb [ja-hō-va cher-reb] (The LORD the Sword) and He is with you. \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather God\, I smile when I think about how much I didn’t really know about my Christian walk and what it would be like when I started. I also repent because I should have come to You. I smile because as I read the word and begin to spend time with You; I saw it was not a cakewalk. It wasn’t for the prophets of old. It wasn’t for Jesus. It wasn’t for the apostles. I also repent for complaining because I thought it should be easy for me. For some reason\, I thought things would always be great; I would always be happy; and there would never be any contention. That was just crazy. You taught me I needed to change my perspective on what it means to be a Christian. If I did\, I would walk with more power. You send me to speak to people\, churches\, and ministries on assignment. The enemy has an assignment also; to kill\, steal\, and destroy what You have placed in me. You are my sword. When he tells me what You have given me to say will not be heard; I’ll say it\, anyway. When he tells me I am being disregarded because of my temperament or tone; I’ll say it\, anyway. When he tells me I am being mistreated; I’ll say it\, anyway. DESCRIPTION:Romans 12:19 Do not bother yourselves to get even\, dear ones. Do not let anger or irritation distract you; that which we have in common with one another (righteousness) must set the pace. Scripture confirms that the Lord himself is the revealer of righteousness. (TMB) \nPsalms 89:18 For the Lord is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our king. (KJV) \nAre you seeking to get revenge? \nRevenge is a practice for someone who is not mature in God. If you choose to feel hurt\, you will most probably forget the fight is not against flesh and blood. Your choice can sometimes reveal an enormous amount of pain\, which will cause you to lose your ability to think constructively. Your decision to “be hurt” can create a snowball effect that ends in more pain for you. The word of God is true. You can choose not to be hurt. \nLuke 10:19 Behold\, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions\, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you. (American Standard Version ASV) \nNothing means nothing. When you choose to feel hurt\, you also look for someone to blame. The enemy convinces you revenge will cause the person\, you blame for your “hurt\,” will feel the same hurt you feel or felt. He will make you think you can get even. The devil is a liar. In those times\, you must believe the word of God. \n1 Peter 3:9 And never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding\, berating\, and any kind of abuse]\, but on the contrary\, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being\, contentment\, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose\, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being\, happiness\, and protection]. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nHe will even tell you to ignore the word\, and Luke 10:19 does not apply to your current situation. He will try to assure you revenge will reduce or even make your pain go away. None of what the devil says is true. What actually happens is the desire for revenge pulls you into a vicious cycle of planning and plotting\, which results in you indulging your flesh and not obeying the Spirit of God living on the inside of you. \nProverbs 27:20 Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied\, so human desire is never satisfied. (New Living Translation NLT) \nYou will never satisfy your flesh. You can’t. What you will do is keep trying to come up with something else to do. You will have wasted energy and time. All the while\, your heart is being darkened\, and your spirit is being drained. \nMatthew 6:22-23  “The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive]\, your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. 23 But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind]\, your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So if the [very] light inside you [your inner self\, your heart\, your conscience] is darkness\, how great and terrible is that darkness!” (Amplified Bible AMP) \nWhatever happened is over. Rehearsing it and playing it like a movie in your mind just causes you to relive the pain continuously. \nRomans 12:17-19 Never hold a grudge or try to get even\, but plan your life around the noblest way to benefit others. 18 Do your best to live as everybody’s friend.19 Beloved\, don’t be obsessed with taking revenge\, but leave that to God’s righteous justice. For the Scriptures say: “If you don’t take justice in your own hands\, I will release justice for you\,” says the Lord. (TPT) \nThe Lord will handle what happens for you and for them. As you pray\, He will provide answers and solutions\, and you will grow. You don’t have to defend yourself; just give praise to Jehovah Maginnenu [ja-hō-va mig-a-nū-nū] (The LORD Our Defense). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I confess\, when I was young\, I wanted to get revenge. I would think about getting even with someone. Surprisingly enough\, because I spend a great deal of time thinking\, analyzing and rethinking\, I could never figure out something to do that actually made sense. I repent for the time I wasted. Thank You for revelation and guidance. I could never come up with anything because I am not You and whoever I wanted to get revenge on was not me. No one could or would not feel the way I felt. There was no need to try. You showed me if someone could feel the way I do about things\, there would be no need for revenge. They would not have done it. In addition to the time I spent plotting\, I wasted even more time trying to understand how to stop feeling what I felt. I would try to see if it was my fault. I would try to analyze my actions. I would rehearse the interaction in my mind to see if there was something I could’ve done differently. I thought that was the best thing to do as I prepared myself for the possibility of a next time or a next person. I did not want to do the same thing. The whole thing was exhausting. Also\, I had no guarantee that what I came up with would work. I repent for not spending that time with You and waiting in Your presence for what You wanted me to do . Thank You for stopping me and reminding me I have You. You let me know You use every experience to teach me. If I let You\, I will learn either what to do or what not to do. If I was in the wrong; I can ask for forgiveness\, and You will forgive me. If I wasn’t in the wrong; I can forgive whoever was. However\, you know the real reason for the request. God also knows what is in your heart. He will judge every request on its merit. There is no sense in trying to make your request into something other than what it is. You teach me to come to You because You are my God; You love me\, and You want what’s best for me. I can’t have faith in someone else. My faith must be in You. I remember when I was a child. Because I was the baby\, my sisters would tell me to ask Dad or Mom for what they wanted. They thought I could get a “yes” when they would get a “no.” I can’t get someone else to ask for me because I think You will cater to them or I think You will respond to them and not me. There is no person who has better words to say; no matter how long they have been walking with You or how You use them. You are the same God for me as You are for them. Do you look for God to transform your life\, or do you come and leave the same? Do you really want to be changed or do you just want to be able to say you fellowshipped today? I have many reasons for participating in fellowship. Sometimes I have to sing\, intercede\, or someone asked me to preach the word. There are times when I have had a responsibility in the service as an altar worker\, a greeter\, or usher. Anyone could ask me why I was taking part in fellowship or going to church. My answer would have been one of those reasons. I never got up and said I’m going to the house of prayer to meet the Lord; I’m going for my life to be transformed; I’m going because I expect to be changed and never be the same. I repent because those should have been my answer. I give You praise\, glory\, and honor because they are my answer now. I want to go to fellowship to meet You with my brothers and sisters. I want You to change me every time. Add something that I don’t have\, develop something that is weak\, remove something that is not like You. When I am in Your presence\, I never want my life to remain the same. If I am changed every time I am in fellowship with other believers; I will see a manifestation of Your glory in my life and as I live on this earth. I don’t handle things how you do. There are two things I want you to remember. One\, you don’t think you are forgivable because you harbor unforgiveness in your heart. I sent my son to die for your sins and the sins of those you are carrying a grudge against. Accept what Jesus did for you. Two\, if you set others free\, you can set yourself free. He does not respond to things the way human beings do (so grateful He does not). It is important to remember He is omniscient\, omnipresent and all-powerful. You must realize\, when you pray prayers out of emotion and insincerity\, you are not helping yourself. You don’t have to use vain repetitions or a multitude of words in prayer. It is not a sales pitch; you are talking to the creator of the universe. You have been granted audience with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; keep in mind He is Kadosh [ kā-dosh] (The Holy One). Reflect on who He is and spend more of your prayer time listening rather than talking. \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather God\, there have been times when I was told\, “You better check yourself before You wreck yourself.”  Whoever I was talking to felt I was out of order because of who they were. I have also been guilty of saying things to You without keeping in mind who I was talking to and I repent for not giving You the honor You are due. When I got out of line\, my father used to ask me\, “Who do you think you are talking to?” You deserve that same respect and more. You are Holy. I temper my conversation when I’m talking to my pastor or to the boss. Though I can ask You anything I want; I need to remember You are GOD. If I got the opportunity to speak to the president; I wouldn’t say any ole thing. I will give You greater respect. I can tell You what I want without disrespecting Your Holiness and the Glory of who You are. I can ask You for what I need without asking You to a pity party that compromises my understanding of Your Majesty. I don’t have the right to try to handle You\, order You around\, or demand anything from You. It is enough for me to say thank You for what You have already done. I will spend less of my time talking and more of my time listening. Thank You for giving me a continual audience with You. Though I still use this model\, in some form\, I have come to know prayer does not have to be regimented. Prayer is having a conversation with You. I understand we’re not peers and I’m glad about it. I come to You\, honoring You for Your Majesty\, confessing all the things I’ve done\, asking for forgiveness when needed\, thanking You for Your blessings\, and sharing my life. The most important thing I do is listen to You for guidance. When I both listen and obey\, I can continue to honor You. I thank You for Your grace and Your mercy. You can give reasons for not witnessing. Is that really what you want to do. You want to find your motivation to witness. Here are some things to consider: \n\nSomeone loved you enough to tell you about Jesus. There is someone waiting for you to do the same for them.\n\nActs 1:8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea\, and Samaria\, and even to the ends of the earth.” (Amplified Bible AMP) \n\nIt’s not about you; whether you are eloquent or are not; what your socioeconomic status is; nor what your profession is. There are those who need to hear about Jesus who you can relate to.\n\n1 Corinthians 2:1-2\, 4 My brothers and sisters\, I did not pose as an expert with all the answers. I did not pretend to explain the mystery of God with eloquent speech and human wisdom. 2 I claimed to know nothing with certainty other than the reality that Jesus is the Anointed One\, the Liberating King\, who was crucified on our behalf. 4 The sermons I preached were not delivered with the kind of persuasive elegance some have come to expect\, but they were effective because I relied on God’s Spirit to demonstrate God’s power. I am to speak to those I meet and introduce them to a God who can save them from a life of sin and death. I know You will give me the words to say at the appointed time because Your word says You will. I know I don’t have to be eloquent. I don’t need finesse or panache. I am not required to make them understand. All I need is Your love in my heart and my testimony on my lips. Your word says they overcame by the word of their testimony. As I share my life\, people will see where I was and appreciate where I am today. Then they will know You can do the same for them. You are an all-sufficient God. Everything we all need\, we can find in You. Help me live my life seeing Your new mercies every day. I pray my testimony will keep being rewritten because You continue to transform me.
