DESCRIPTION:James 1:5 The only thing you could possibly lack is wisdom. (One might sometimes feel challenged beyond the point of sanity) however\, make your request in such a way that you draw directly from the source (not filtered through other opinions). God is the origin and author of wisdom; he intertwines your thoughts with good judgment. His gifts are available to all\, without regret. (TMB)  \nIsaiah 45:23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness\, And shall not return\, That to Me every knee shall bow\, every tongue shall take an oath. (NKJV) \nWho are you getting your answers from? \nWhen you don’t know what to do\, yet you know something needs to be done\, who do you ask first. Do you go to the people you believe to be spiritual or knowledgeable? Do you talk to your friends\, prayer partner\, spiritual mentor\, pastor\, etc.? There is nothing wrong with that. God placed these people in your life to be a support to you. Sometimes you can have too much support. You can have so many different answers to the same question that you struggle with what to believe. Why not go directly to the source? Do you remember to ask God\, first? \nPsalms 121:1-2 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord\, Who made heaven and earth. (New King James Version NKJV) \nThe Lord you serve is omniscient. The wisdom God gives is unaffected by the status of your problem\, what you feel\, or what you see. Here are some reasons you ask God for the answers:  \n\nGod will help you through your situation without being condescending or scolding you. \n\nJames 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance]\, he is to ask of [our benevolent] God\, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame\, and it will be given to him. (Amplified Bible AMP) \n\nGod doesn’t just have wisdom\, He is wisdom.\n\nProverbs 2:6 Wisdom is a gift from a generous God\, and every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a fountain of understanding within you. (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nYou know He hears you and will answer you because you are living the life He has called you to live.\n\n1 John 3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him\, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. (New King James Version NKJV) \n\nYou know\, on your best day\, you don’t have the solution.\n\nProverbs 14:12 You can rationalize it all you want and justify the path of error you have chosen\, but you’ll find out in the end that you took the road to destruction. (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nGod is waiting for you to ask. He wants you to have the answer.\n\nMatthew 7:7-8 “Ask\, and it will be given to you; seek\, and you will find; knock\, and it will be opened to you.  8 For everyone who asks receives\, and he who seeks finds\, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (New King James Version NKJV) \n\nGod has so much more to show you than what you have the knowledge to ask for.\n\nJeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to Me and I will answer you\, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things\, [things which have been confined and hidden]\, which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’ (Amplified Bible AMP) \nEverything you go through is a test. You can’t fail the test\, if you have all the answers. With each answer you receive and each test you pass\, give Him praise because He is Adonai [a-dō-nī ] (Master Over All). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, Your word says\, in the multitude of counsel there is safety. I know there are times when I have taken that scripture to an extreme limit. When I did\, the safety the counsel was supposed to provide to me\, only created confusion. There were too many voices. Too many people trying to help me understand what was going on and tell me how to deal with it. I thank You because You are there. I repent for not coming to You first. You have the answers. I don’t have to guess. I don’t have to figure it out. All I have to do is ask You. The problem was\, by the time I asked You I could not hear what You were saying. My spirit and my mind was cluttered with the things everyone else\, including myself\, had said. You taught me I needed to be still. Through the years\, I have learned how to wait and how to be still in Your presence. You have taught me a decision made in uncertainty is destined to be the wrong one. You have taught me acting out of emergency will cost me. Thank You for teaching me through my experiences and tests that You know what’s best for me. Whether You tell me what to do or unfold the solution over time; I will come to You with all of my questions. (KJV) \nAre you a sheep? \nSheep don’t worry about being fed; whether there will be water to drink; or if there will be protection from danger. Here are some additional characteristics of sheep. See if you fit into the sheep category.  \n\n Sheep have no sense of direction; they will follow whoever is leading them. \n Sheep are defenseless; when frightened\, they will run away. \n Sheep can’t get up without help. The shepherd must lift the sheep and put it back on its feet\, or it will die. \n Sheep are emotional and recognize the shepherd’s voice. \n Sheep are not animals that carry burdens.\n Sheep will settle for less. They are content with filth\, so long as it satisfies at the moment. \n Sheep are valuable; treated as a prized possession. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nDo you always keep in mind God is there; or do you begin to murmur and complain when you encounter situations where you are anxious? Is it because The Father\, your Shepard\, has failed to take care of you? Absolutely not! Even though you may have to cry and sometimes walk in a place where you cannot “see” God at work\, you must have confidence.  \nDaniel 10:12 Then he said to me\, “Do not be afraid\, Daniel\, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God\, your words were heard\, and I have come in response to your words. (American Standard Bible ASB)  \nGod is not wishy-washy. He does not take pleasure in your distress. The foundation of your relationship with God is you know He hears you. Take on the attitude of a sheep. Whatever is going on in your life\, God is at work for the good of them who love God\, and are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28) This is not a promise that He is going to work it out “your good” as you see it. He is going to work it out for “the good” that His has purposed and planned for all those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. That slight difference in wording should change what you expect from God in a major way. He may not do the specific thing you asked\, however\, He is in control. God looks after you like a shepherd looks after his sheep. Because you have God’s promise\, you don’t have to worry. He will take care of you.  \nGive Him praise because He is Jehovah Roi [ja-hō-va  rō-hī] (The LORD My Shepherd). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I have often heard sheep referred to as stupid animals. You taught me people considered them stupid because they did not think or decide or their own. You prompted me to study and\, in my obedience\, I found sheep are not survivors. They are not strong and independent. They are not hunters or fierce predators. Now I understand why Your word instructs me to be like a sheep. I have also found it is in my best interest not to think or decide on my own; I cannot survive without You; and I don’t want to live independently from You. I will gladly  be Your sheep. Like them\, I want to depend on the Shepherd entirely. Like them\, I don’t want to be left alone. You are my Shepard; You take care of me and You never leave me alone. You are always watching over me. I may not always acknowledge or appreciate the provisions You make for me every day and I repent for that. What I know is\, not because of anything I have done\, I’m still here. The devil hasn’t destroyed my life. Thank You for loving me with such love that I cannot reject You. DESCRIPTION:Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness\, and going about to establish their own righteousness\, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (KJV) \nMicah 6:6 Wherewith shall I come before the Lord\, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings\, with calves of a year old? (KJV) \nWhat sacrifice are you bringing to the Lord? \nWhen you have sinned\, you approach God because He has given you access to do so (Ephesians 2:18). What do you bring?  \n\nDo you say prayers that identify your sin? \nDo you make promises not to sin again and ask for forgiveness? \nDo you cry sometimes? \nDo you come seeking mercy because the Holy Spirit convicted you (you got caught)? \n\nIf you do any or all these things\, you were either taught to\, read it\, or modeled your prayers after ones you have heard. Remember\, God is the Almighty God. He looks directly into your heart. Your words may fool people\, however\, you cannot fool God. Make sure you are not just going through the motions. That behavior only satisfies your flesh; it doesn’t please God. Those types of prayers are just performance and show no reverence. Give God what is deserving of the Creator of heaven of earth.  \nPsalms 51:16-17  For You do not desire sacrifice\, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit\, A broken and a contrite heart — These\, O God\, You will not despise. (New King James Version NKJV) \nThe only acceptable thing to bring the Father is a heart broken with sorrow because of the sin. You come to him boldly\, yet humbly giving Him praise\, worship\, and honor for who He is. Remember\, He is the creator of the universe.  \nMatthew 6:9-13 Pray like this: “Our Beloved Father\, dwelling in the heavenly realms\, may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn.10 Manifest your kingdom realm\, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth\, as it is in heaven.” (The Passion Translation TPT) \nYou don’t come because you got caught and you are trying to escape the consequences. You come to repent because of conviction and get help to turn away from unacceptable behavior and keep turning to God.  \nPsalm 51:1-2 God\, give me mercy from your fountain of forgiveness! I know your abundant love is enough to wash away my guilt. Because your compassion is so great\, away this shameful guilt of sin. Forgive the full extent of my rebellious ways\, and erase this deep stain on my conscience. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nYou bring your sacrifice to the Most High God who sits above you in the heavens. You bow before Him in praise\, as your pray\, because He is Elohei Marom [ē-lō-hī  ma-room] (God of Heights). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I repent for every time I came to You because I was ashamed. I know I cannot honestly say each time I was sorry about what happened. I think mostly I was sorry about the outcome. If the situation had not gone to the left\, I probably would not have come to You about it. Again\, I repent. Just thinking about it brings me to my knees. I know that kind of behavior grieves You. The drama\, the tears\, the falling on the floor and all the emotions have to be real. If not\, I’ve gotten everything I am going to get\, an emotional release. I might also get the sympathy or the empathy from those who are watching\, which would provide for some internal relief. I don’t want that life. I want to come to You because I know I am wrong whether or not I am “caught”. The Holy Spirit always shows me when I am wrong. Even though I may try to rationalize it\, wrong is wrong. There’s no gray area with You. I can’t be partially obedient. I bring to You the sacrifice You require. My heart is broken for every wrong I commit; I repent and I do not want to do them again. (KJV) \nAre you in covenant with the Lord? \nThere are some prerequisites to answered prayer. You have heard the phrase\, name it and claim it. Well\, unfortunately\, it does not work exactly like that. And yes\, God loves you.  \n1 John 3:1a See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown\, bestowed on) us\, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nYes\, He wants what’s best for you.  \nRomans 8:27-28 And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is\, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of God’s people in accordance with God’s will. 28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God\, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nYes\, no good thing will He withhold from you.  \n2 Peter 1:3-4 Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. 4 As a result of this\, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price\, so that through the power of these tremendous promises we can experience partnership with the divine nature\, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nYou are constantly told about God’s part of the covenant. What about your part? What does it mean to abide in the Lord? The word abide means you will wait patiently for Him to respond; you will remain in place and not seek an answer elsewhere; you will endure whatever situation praising and not complaining; you will dwell and live in the secret place of the most high. This is your part of the covenant\, you will: \n\nWait patiently\, no matter what\, in order to maintain your place with God (see April 18 devotional).\nContinue to and consistently tithe\, because you are being obedient to God’s command\, not for a blessing.\nPray without ceasing even though you haven’t gotten the answer you were looking for. \n\nNow\, when you understand your part and uphold your part\, you will find your protection and shelter from all danger and hardship in God. As you think about this covenant\, the only thing you can do is Give Him praise because He is Jehovah (the God of covenant) and Elohim Machase Lanu [el- ō-hēm ma-chās la-nū] (God Our Refuge).  \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, when I got saved\, I did not understand the covenant part of salvation very well. I asked my Daddy questions\, on many occasions\, as I was trying to understand all aspects of salvation and discipleship. What I understood\, for a long time\, was all I had to do was get saved and everything would be okay. Ultimately\, that statement was and is true; everything will be okay. However\, in the time between the day I got saved\, and the day I will come to heaven to be with You; I need a refuge\, a guide\, a judge\, a confidante\, and\, most importantly\, a Lord. There will be choices I can and will make that can move me from under Your shelter. Salvation is free\, everything else will cost me. The cost is my life. The enemy does not want me to be with You. I need You to help me stand\, no matter what darts the devil throws at me. Please help me make sure I don’t gamble away my peace. Help me remember You are my safe place\, my shelter from the pursuit of the enemy\, my guide through danger and trouble when I make choices that satisfy whatever my fleshly need is at the moment. DESCRIPTION:Matthew 6:6 But thou\, when thou prayest\, enter into thy closet\, and when thou hast shut thy door\, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (KJV) \nGenesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day\, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen. (KJV) \nDo you believe God will provide for you? \nDo you know what resources any of your friends have available for you to use at any given moment? Maybe you think you do. Maybe you have determined the ones who have money; who have influence; who have access to certain perks\, etc. Do you sometimes ask the “appropriate” person for what you need\, hoping they will take care of the problem? There is nothing wrong with asking. There is nothing wrong with thinking your friends should help you out. However\, your first step\, when you are facing a problem\, is to go to God.  \nRomans 8:31-32 So\, what do you think? With God on our side like this\, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us\, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son\, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? (The Message MSG) \nYou don’t have to figure out how God is going to meet your need; He has already figured it out. He knows what you have need of before you ask (Matthew 6:8). He can supply your need\, supernaturally or naturally; just remember\, He is the one who is supplying the need. You can find a supernatural example of God’s provision in the story of Abraham and Isaac (see devotional on March 16th). Encourage yourself with these truths\, He can and will provide for you because: \n\nHe is your Father.\n\nEphesians 1:5 He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ\, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will. (Amplified Bible AMP) \n\nHe is the giver of all the good you receive.\n\nJames 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens]\, in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. Isn’t there more to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body more than clothing? 26 “Consider the birds—do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food\, yet your heavenly Father provides them each with food. Aren’t you much more valuable to your Father than they? Knock\, and the door will be opened for you.” (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nHe has never failed to keep His word.\n\nNumbers 23:19 God is not like people\, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises\, he does; He speaks\, and it is done. (Good News Translation GNT) \nYou give Him praise because He is Jehovah Jireh [ja-hō-va jī-ra]  (The LORD Will Provide). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather God\, thank You for placing people in my life who have resources. It is presumptuous on my part to think I can go to them\, and they should automatically provide those resources to fix my problem. I repent for every time I did not make the right choice and come to You first. Because I give\, You promised to give unto me. You may choose to fix the problem supernaturally. You may impress upon one of my friends or someone completely unknown to me to fix it some other way. However You fix it\, You will fix it completely without strings and everybody will be at peace. When I try to do it without consulting You\, it goes wrong. Often I have felt bad because my friend could not or would not help. My friend may have felt bad that I asked\, without knowing their situation. Maybe it was bad timing\, and my friend couldn’t do it. Maybe my friend did not want to do it and felt pressure because of the friendship. It is dangerous to put people in the place You should be. It is dangerous to hold a person to a standard they cannot live up to because they are not You. You are Jehovah Jireh. All of my provision is in You. You meet my need and even some of my wants. You do it in the way You see fit for the situation I’m going through and that supports Your purpose and plan for my life. There is training and growth for me\, if I allow You to take care of it. You always do what You do. DESCRIPTION:James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another\, and pray one for another\, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (KJV) \nExodus 15:26 And said\, If thou wilt diligently hearken to (TVT) of the Lord thy God\, and wilt do that which is right in his sight\, and wilt give ear to his commandments\, and keep all his statutes\, I will put none of these diseases upon thee\, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee. (KJV) \nDo you have some relationships that need healing? \nWhen you think about healing\, it is often a physical problem you focus on. However\, healing can apply to your relationships as well. When there is tension\, strife\, and distance in your relationships\, you need healing. You recognize the need\, even if you don’t acknowledge it. How\, because it becomes difficult and a strain to interact with those you are in a relationship with. \nColossians 3:12-13 Since you are all set apart by God\, made holy and dearly loved\, clothe yourselves with a holy way of life: compassion\, kindness\, humility\, gentleness\, and patience. 13 Put up with one another. Forgive. Pardon any offenses against one another\, as the Lord has pardoned you\, because you should act in kind. (The Voice TVT) \nYour conversations are short and functional when they were not that way between you before. If you are the one who caused the problem\, you have to admit it. You may say\, “It was not my fault\, I did nothing wrong\, I was just playing\, it’s not that serious\, etc.” However\, when your friend\, co-worker\, family member\, etc. shares an offense\, addressed it. Allow him/her to explain. Even if you don’t remember\, agree\, or see it the same way. You don’t have to own it\, nor justify it. However\, you do need to acknowledge it. \nMatthew 5:23-24 So if when you are offering your gift at the altar you there remember that your brother has any [grievance] against you\, 24 Leave your gift at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother\, and then come back and present your gift. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nWhat if the situation was reversed? How would you want to be handled? You don’t have to wait until your  friend\, co-worker\, family member\, etc. comes to you. Don’t allow the enemy to whisper in your ear. Don’t fill your head with negativity\, phrases like  “I should have known; I won’t allow anyone this close to me again; People are all the same; Who needs friends\, etc.” \, don’t represent God. Also\, you are not showing maturity if you drag around an offense\, pretending to be over it when you are not. Actually\, it is quite the opposite of mature. Give the Lord praise because He made provision for this situation as well; you address it. \nMatthew 18:15 If your brother wrongs you\, go and show him his fault\, between you and him privately. If he listens to you\, you have won back your brother. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC)  \nIt does not matter which category you fall into\, and the offender/offense may change from situation to situation. The Bible requires you to deal with it. If anyone has offended you; the responsibility lies with you. You can’t make anyone do anything; you put your blessings at risk\, waiting for someone to come to you. If you are the one who committed the offense\, the Holy Spirit will let you know. You can choose to ignore it; however\, you lose your ability to offer gifts to the Father. Be who God has called you to be. \nEphesians 4:2 With tender humility and quiet patience\, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another\, especially toward those who may try your patience. (The Passion Translation TPT) \nThen you have to forgive\, or God will deal with you as you deal with others (Matthew 6:12).  \nEphesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness\, passion\, and anger. No more shouting or insults\, no more hateful feelings of any sort. 32 Instead\, be kind and tender-hearted to one another\, and forgive one another\, as God has forgiven you through Christ. (Good News Translation GNT) \nYou don’t want to put anything between you and your relationship with God. You must deal with the situation; be honest with the Father about how you feel. Go to Him in prayer and He will show you want to say and what to do. If you are obedient\, God will heal your situation and mend your relationship. Give Him praise for He is Jehovah Rophe [ja-hō-va ra-fē] (The LORD our Healer). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, for as long as I can remember\, I have said\, “The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much.” I applied that scripture to whatever I was praying about. I repent for believing it meant I could have whatever I thought I needed or wanted. I didn’t understand the focus of that scripture was healing. You showed me that scripture was dealing with a broken heart and broken relationship. You have made it abundantly clear to me there’s no way to have a relationship with You\, and I don’t have a relationship with those I see every day. Broken communion\, in the natural\, negatively affects my communion with You. I can’t ignore disagreements. I can’t pretend like the tension doesn’t exist. I can’t sweep it under the rug. I can’t tell anyone to get over it or force myself to get over it. Many of the people around me have considered characterized me as confrontational. Somehow\, they made sure I knew that was not a compliment. As a result\, I spent a lot of years trying to go with the flow and let things roll off my back. I repent for messing with Your design; I had no right. You put that in me. I did not choose to be this way. You are teaching me how to confront issues in Your strength\, in Your power\, and mostly in Your Love. Thank You. I don’t want to have tense interactions with those who name the name of Christ and even those who don’t\, even though I know sometimes I will. You are Jehovah Rophe\, You can bring healing to any and every situation. You are the God of reconciliation. I thank You for giving me understanding. Because I am made righteous by the blood of Jesus\, my effectual fervent prayer will heal my relationships… \nAsk the lord what he wants to say to you about today’s devotional and journal it here:

DESCRIPTION:1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV) \nExodus 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel\, saying\, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. (KJV) \nAre you still trying to fix yourself? \nAre you one of those people who believe you can use problem-solving skills to change? Theoretically\, it seems possible. However\, from a practical standpoint\, though it may work for a time\, you don’t have the capacity to sustain the change. The basic premise for all problem solving is to determine the problem. You can rehearse the situation and try to identify what went wrong. You can think you have come up with the reason. The real problem is sin. Don’t get bent out of shape and start to think the worse because of the word\, “sin”. Here are a couple of meanings that will help you understand why sin is the problem: \n\nYou missed the mark God set for you. \n\nIsaiah 53:6 Like wayward sheep\, we have all wandered astray. Each of us has turned from God’s paths and chosen our own way; even so\, Yahweh laid the guilt of our every sin upon him. (TPT) \n\nYou went beyond God’s set boundary or limit. \n\nActs 17:26 This God made us in all our diversity from one original person\, allowing each culture to have its own time to develop\, giving each its own place to live and thrive in its distinct ways. (The Voice TVT) \n\nYou were going in the direction God was leading and somehow you strayed off course. \n\nRomans 3:11-12 No one understands [no one intelligently discerns or comprehends]; no one seeks out God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become unprofitable and worthless; no one does right\, not even one! (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \n\nYou are now on an alternate course not going in the direction God intended for you to go. \n\nProverbs 14:12-13 What you think is the right road may lead to death. 13 Laughter may hide sadness. When happiness is gone\, sorrow is always there. (Good News Translation GNT) \nYou don’t have the power to solve a sin problem. Rules can’t fix it\, God sent the Ten Commandments\, and the people continued to sin. You can try to employ mind over matter. You can do the twelve-step\, ten-step\, or however many steps programs\, the problem is still there. You can even begin to “speak the word over yourself.” Paul describes the situation in Romans 7:14-25 (read below). You are just like he was\, understanding what God desires\, wanting to be obedient. And just like Paul\, there is a problem. Will you also recognize that it is a sin issue\, a part of human nature? Yes\, God saved you\, actually your spirit man\, and translated you from darkness to light. However\, salvation doesn’t exempt you from doing the wrong thing. Your soul must be saved\, and that is your job. It is not something you can talk yourself into\, it requires action. You must be obedient. \nPhilippians 2:12-13 So then\, my dear ones\, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm]\, not only in my presence\, but now much more in my absence\, continue to work out your salvation [that is\, cultivate it\, bring it to full effect\, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ]. 13 For it is [not your strength\, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you\, both to will and to work [that is\, strengthening\, energizing\, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. (Amplified Bible AMP) \nThe ultimate conclusion is you can’t fix yourself. Don’t give up. You\, like Paul\, can pray and walk in obedience to God’s word. Then you can praise and give glory to God. He will fix you because He is Jehovah Mekaddishkem [ja-hō-va ma-kā’-dish-kim] (The LORD that Sanctifies You). \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I first want to repent even before I begin to pray. I have wasted so many days\, years even\, trying to fix myself. I’ve read the self-help books and tried to apply the logic. I’ve done the problem-solving matrices. The reality is\, no matter how intelligent I am\, or what courses I have taken or will take; I do not now\, nor ever will have the power to fix myself. Yes Sir\, I want to do what You called me to do. I want to be obedient. I really do. My flesh gets in the way. I had to ask the same question Paul did\, “Who can separate me from the wretched person I am?” I thank You that You are Jehovah Mekaddishkem. You are the one who sanctifies me. I had to be obedient to Your word and allow the power\, that only You have\, to clean me up. Thank You for placing the coal on my lips and on my heart. Thank You for continuing to burn out everything that is not like You. I submit to You\, please sanctify me holy unto You every day of my life. Your sanctification makes me fit to be a vessel You can use. Here I am\, be glorified and honored… \nAsk the lord what he wants to say to you about today’s devotional and journal it here:    \nRomans 7:14-25  I can anticipate the response that is coming: “I know that all God’s commands are spiritual\, but I’m not. Isn’t this also your experience?” Yes. I’m full of myself—after all\, I’ve spent a long time in sin’s prison. What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way\, but then I act another\, doing things I absolutely despise. So if I can’t be trusted to figure out what is best for myself and then do it\, it becomes obvious that God’s command is necessary. 17-20 But I need something more! For if I know the law but still can’t keep it\, and if the power of sin within me keeps sabotaging my best intentions\, I obviously need help! I realize that I don’t have what it takes. I can will it\, but I can’t do it. I decide to do good\, but I don’t really do it; I decide not to do bad\, but then I do it anyway. My decisions\, such as they are\, don’t result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time. 21-23 It happens so regularly that it’s predictable. The moment I decide to do good\, sin is there to trip me up. I truly delight in God’s commands\, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel\, and just when I least expect it\, they take charge. 24 I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question? 25 The answer\, thank God\, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind\, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different.
