SUMMARY:2 Timothy 1:5
DESCRIPTION:2 Timothy 1:5 I rejoice in the pure faith that I see in you. Remember that you are the third generation of a strong lineage of faith. The same unwavering persuasion that indwelt your grandmother Lois also resides in your mother Eunice and is now abundantly evident in you. (TMB) \nDo you have experiences that make The Lord real for you? \nIf you read Genesis 22:1-13*\, you will find the story of Abraham going to sacrifice his son. When this story is told\, the focus is normally on Abraham. He was the father of faith. Look at the interaction between Abraham and Isaac for just a moment. Here is a 90+ year old man tying a young man to the altar. Isaac wasn’t too young to understand what was going on. He was also not too young to at least try to stop Abraham\, or plead with him if he wanted to. Isaac allowed Abraham to tie him to the altar and did not move. Abraham did not transfer faith to Isaac in his DNA. However\, I am sure Isaac saw the faith of his father day in and day out. Now it was his turn\, isn’t it a glorious thing when\, though you have in your lineage powerful men and women in the Lord\, you find your own place in God. How do you find your own place in God? \n\nBe sure of your salvation.\n\nRomans 10:9-10 because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power\, authority\, and majesty as God]\, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead\, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is\, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly]\, resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. (AMP) \nJohn 14:6 Jesus said to him\, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (AMP) \n\nPray that God would grant you the faith to know Him more deeply.\n\nJude 20 But you\, beloved\, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress\, rise like an edifice higher and higher]\, pray in the Holy Spirit\, (AMP) \nRomans 10:17 Consequently\, faith comes from hearing the message\, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (NIV) \n\nSubmit to be tested.\n\nJames 1:2-4 Consider it wholly joyful\, my brethren\, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. 3 Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. 4 But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work\, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects]\, lacking in nothing. (AMPC) \nPhilippians 2:14-15 Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves]\, 15 That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless\, innocent and uncontaminated\, children of God without blemish (faultless\, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse]\, among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world\, (AMPC) \nWhat a blessing to move from the “God of my father/mother etc.” to “my Lord and My God”. Are you willing to submit to the process in order to experience that transition? To know God for yourself makes you dangerous to the enemy. \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, I thank You for every experience I’ve had. I thank You for the scripture my father quoted to me all my life. “I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.” I thank You for making provision for me when I couldn’t explain how or why. You were right there. Now I don’t have to only read and hear about Jehovah Jireh. You provide for me. I don’t have to only read and hear about Jehovah Nissi. You are my banner. I don’t have to only read and hear about Jehovah Tsidekenu. You are my righteousness. I don’t have to only read and hear about Jehovah Maccadeschem. You sanctify me. I repent for not allowing my experiences to make You more real to me. I no longer live a life where I read and listen to other people talk about who You are. I live a life\, Father God\, where You manifest Yourself in my life and You are real to me…\n \nAsk the lord what he wants to say to you about today’s devotional and journal it here:    \n* Genesis 22:1-13 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham\, and said to him\, “Abraham!” And he said\, “Here I am.” 2 Then He said\, “Take now your son\, your only son Isaac\, whom you love\, and go to the land of Moriah\, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey\, and took two of his young men with him\, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering\, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men\, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship\, and we will come back to you.” 6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand\, and a knife\, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said\, “My father!” And he said\, “Here I am\, my son.” Then he said\, “Look\, the fire and the wood\, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 And Abraham said\, “My son\, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. 9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar\, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said\, “Abraham\, Abraham!” So he said\, “Here I am.” 12 And He said\, “Do not lay your hand on the lad\, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God\, since you have not withheld your son\, your only son\, from Me.” 13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked\, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram\, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
