SUMMARY:Genesis 22:5
DESCRIPTION:Genesis 22:5 And Abraham said to his young men\, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship\, and we will come back to you.” (NKJV) \nDo you trust God with your life? \nThis passage is often used to describe Jehovah Jireh. What a story! When Abraham received his command from God; the Bible does not say he stopped and asked God why.  \nGenesis 22:2-3 Then He said\, “Take now your son\, your only son Isaac\, whom you love\, and go to the land of Moriah\, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey\,… and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. (New King James Version NKJV) \nIt does not record where He prayed for the life of his son like he did for Sodom and Gomorrah. Interestingly enough\, he told his servants: he and his son were going to worship\, and they were coming back. Before Abraham got to the Jehovah Jireh place in his life; he had to have already been in a place of faith and trust.  \nHebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out\, not knowing where he was going. (New King James Version NKJV) \nNow\, maybe Abraham thought God would not require Isaac’s life. He may have even told himself\, if God accepted his sacrifice\, He would then resurrect Isaac. Though he may not have known how God was going to do it\, he was coming back with his son. Abraham was going to the top of the mountain to prostrate himself before God and honor Him for being the one true God. Abraham was going to worship\, knowing Isaac was to die.  \nGenesis 22:5b “The lad and I will go yonder and worship.” (New King James Version NKJV) \nIsaac asked his father where the lamb was for the burnt offering (Genesis 22:7). Abraham at that time was over 100 years old and Isaac was a teenager. Isaac had much greater strength and agility and would have given Abraham problems if he did not voluntarily obey and allow himself to be the sacrifice. Yet the passage indicates that Isaac did comply and permitted himself to be placed on the altar\, bound and positioned to be sacrificed (Genesis 22:9). Isaac submitted in total obedience to his father’s request of him. In that moment\, he trusted his God\, not just his father’s God. Abraham was not the only one being tested\, Isaac was as well. Isaac had to have a full understanding\, reverential awe for\, and total trust in the God he served.  \nPsalms 9:10 And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You\, for You\, Lord\, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God’s Word and the right of their necessity]. (Amplified Bible\, Classic Edition AMPC) \nWhat about you? Are you willing to give up something that you’ve prayed for\, labored for\, and fasted for if God asks you (Mark 10:21)? Will you only say yes if you have the promise that you will get it back or something better like Job did (Job 42:12)? Will you give up your life (Mark 8:35)? Do you have the faith in God and the trust that if He’s asking you for it\, there is a higher purpose (Romans 8:28)? Is trust really trust if it’s not tested (James 1:2-3)?  \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, God\, I have told You so many times that I trust You with my life. Because of this devotional\, I had to stop\, reflect on what that statement really means\, and repent for being so casual about it. There are so many situations/circumstances that have happened where my trust was challenged. Sometimes I met the challenge and sometimes I did not. There will be more in my future. I repent for not taking that statement more seriously. I have never had to face the greatest challenge\, to decide if I would give up my life. Do I trust You with my life so much that I am willing to die believing in Your word? I wish I could say yes\, without thought and without pause. Father\, I have to say\, right now\, the only way I’ll know for sure\, is to be in that situation. Please do what You need to do in me to strengthen my faith and trust because I know I need it. How does a person choose to be a martyr? Do they know they are a martyr before it is time for them to die? I don’t know. I believe I walk close to You\, however\, I have to be honest with You. Which by the way there’s no reason not to because You know what’s in my heart. I think I would be shaking all over\, crying and pleading for my life. I pray I am not ever put in that position. However\, should it be Your will and I am faced with martyrdom\, draw me closer to You now; so\, at the assigned moment\, I will choose You… \nAsk the lord what he wants to say to you about today’s devotional and journal it here:

SUMMARY:Deuteronomy 11:16
DESCRIPTION:Deuteronomy 11:16 Take heed to yourselves\, that your heart be not deceived\, and ye turn aside\, and serve other gods\, and worship them. (KJV) \nAre you being deceived? \nThere are times\, when you may be put in a situation\, where you don’t realize you are choosing something else instead of what God wants. You live on this earth. You go to work. You go to church. You handle problems and make decisions on a daily basis. You make choices based on what you believe. This is where the enemy tries to trick you. Fight him with the word. \n\nWhen you are deceived\, you believe joy is not enough; therefore\, you will make choices to be happy which is based on happenings and is fleeting. \n\nPhilippians 4:12-13 I know how to survive in tight situations\, and I know how to enjoy having plenty. In fact\, I have learned how to face any circumstances: fed or hungry\, with or without. 13 I can be content in any and every situation through the Anointed One who is my power and strength. (The Voice TVT) \n\nWhen you are deceived\, you don’t apply all the Word of God; therefore\, you will cherry pick those scriptures meeting your immediate desire. \n\n2 Timothy 3:16-17 God has transmitted his very substance into every Scripture\, for it is God-breathed.[b] It will empower you by its instruction and correction\, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. 17 Then you will be God’s servant\, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you. (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nWhen you are deceived\, you believe you are insignificant and your life means nothing; therefore\, you make choices to be validated and made to feel important. \n\nPsalm 139:14 I will offer You my grateful heart\, for I am Your unique creation\, filled with wonder and awe. You have approached even the smallest details with excellence; Your works are wonderful; I carry this knowledge deep within my soul. (The Voice TVT) \n\nWhen you are deceived\, you believe fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ isn’t important; therefore\, you decide to be alone. Being alone eliminates your chance to be encouraged and/or encourage someone else. It also makes you easy prey for the enemy. \n\nHebrews 10:25 This is not the time to pull away and neglect[a] meeting together\, as some have formed the habit of doing. In fact\, we should come together even more frequently\, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning. (The Passion Translation TPT) \n\nWhen you are deceived\, you believe gossip does no harm\, and your words can’t hurt; therefore\, you don’t bridle your tongue. \n\nPsalm 141:3-4 Post a guard at my mouth\, God\, set a watch at the door of my lips. Don’t let me so much as dream of evil or thoughtlessly fall into bad company. And these people who only do wrong— don’t let them lure me with their sweet talk! (The Message MSG) \nFight the enemy with the word of God\, just as Jesus did (Matthew 4:1-11). You have instruction on this. \nColossians 2:6-8 Now that you have welcomed the Anointed One\, Jesus the Lord\, into your lives\, continue to journey with Him and allow Him to shape your lives. 7 Let your roots grow down deeply in Him\, and let Him build you up on a firm foundation. Be strong in the faith\, just as you were taught\, and always spill over with thankfulness. 8 Make sure no predator makes you his prey through some misleading philosophy and empty deception based on traditions fabricated by mere mortals. These are sourced in the elementary principles originating in this world and not in the Anointed One (so don’t let their talks capture you). (The Voice TVT) \nDon’t be deceived and don’t be the one who is deceiving others. Spend time in worship showing your love for and offering yourself to God. Then your choices will represent His love and power in your life.  \nPhilippians 2:1-4 If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ\, if his love has made any difference in your life\, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you\, if you have a heart\, if you care—then do me a favor: Agree with each other\, love each other\, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside\, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. (The Message MSG) \nIf you purpose it in your heart\, you can live a life that honors the Father and not one that will allow you to be deceived.  \nPlease agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response: \nFather\, thank You for challenging me today. I don’t want to be deceived by the devil and I don’t want to him to use me to deceive myself or anyone else. I want my choices to honor You. I want my decisions to be based on the time I spend with You that is devoted to listening and learning. I repent for thinking I could substitute or replace the time with You by being in church\, in a bible study\, in a prayer /devotion group\, or even preaching the word. If I don’t spend intimate time with You\, I will make provision for my flesh and become an unguarded target for the enemy. He will use my fleshly desires to convince me joy is not enough\, or I’m not valuable to You\, or You don’t love me\, or so many other lies he has in his arsenal to trick me. I submit to You in worship. I believe and trust You to guide me\, my thoughts and my actions. I have held the reins of my life and I have made bad choices. I willingly give the reins to You. You are the master of my fate and the keeper of my soul. I will make choices that will bring glory and honor to Your name… \nAsk the lord what he wants to say to you about today’s devotional and journal it here:
