Ephesians 6:16

July 12

Ephesians 6:16 It is most important to engage your faith as a man-size shield that covers your whole person and empowers you to extinguish the flame in every arrow of contradiction that you might face. The only visible part of you is your faith! (TMB)

Do you have faith?

Faith is what you hope for when you think about what the Lord has promised for your eternity.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (NKJV)

You don’t have to hope for houses, cars, money, etc. The Father has promised them if you seek the kingdom first.

Matthew 6:31, 33 Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ 33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. (AMP)

Your faith is the assurance of things you can’t and don’t see. It is the protection you have against the enemy when he throws fiery darts. Your faith assures you the trials of life are just temporary, no matter how devastating they may be. There is a song by that provides words you can say when you are in a time of testing and trying.

“Wind stop blowing; Flood stop flowing; Lightening stop flashing; Breakers stop dashing; Darkness go away; Clouds move away. That’s what I told the storm.”

It is vital to speak to your situation in faith. However, you must firmly plant your faith in God. Otherwise, you will not command authority and your words will not have power.

Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:

Father, when I was younger, I wanted to understand what it meant to have faith. My Sunday school teacher gave me “the chair example”. Faith was sitting in a chair without checking to see if it would hold me or if it was broken. That was the simplest explanation, and it has stuck with me from that day to this one. I repent for moving from that explanation and acting as if my faith is in what I can see or what I can do. My faith is in You. You are the Almighty God. You are Alpha and Omega. There is no reason not to have faith in You. I don’t have to test it or wait for You to answer a prayer before I get excited. If You said it, that settles it for me. I can endure and be victorious over whatever comes my way because I know You love me, and I have faith in You…
