1 Corinthians 14:15

March 23

1 Corinthians 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. (KJV)

What are you willing to do to be changed by God?

You say you want everything God has for you. You are even willing to do everything you know to do. Are you also willing to do things you don’t know? What happens when you have done all you know to do, and your walk with the Lord is still not any stronger? Well, if you are serious, you will try new things. Change happens in the presence of the Almighty. How do you get into His presence? If you are not sure, here are some things you can do:

  • Be honest with the Lord. He already knows anyway.

Psalm 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. (KJV)

  • Read Scripture Aloud.

2 Peter 1:21 No true prophecy comes from human initiative but is inspired by the moving of the Holy Spirit upon those who spoke the message that came from God. (TPT)

  • Sing Him a Love Song.

Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. (KJV)

  • Speak in tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:4a The one who speaks in tongues advances his own spiritual progress (TPT)

  • Two-way Journaling.

Jeremiah 30:2 “Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. (NKJV)

  • Meditate on the Lord.

Psalm 119:15 I will meditate on Your precepts And [thoughtfully] regard Your ways [the path of life established by Your precepts]. (AMP)

  • Focus on the Lord.

Acts 2:25 This is the very thing David prophesied about him: “I continually see the Lord in front of me. He’s at my right hand, and I am never shaken”. (TPT)

If praying with your understanding allows you to get to the next level, do it. If tongues will help you purify your heart, then speak in tongues. If you already pray in tongues sometimes, pray more. If singing the Lord a song, meditating on the Lord, reading scriptures etc. transforms your life, then what are you waiting on. Don’t get stuck in your old ways. Don’t get bogged down in your biases or those of anyone else. The point here is, don’t allow anything to stop you from getting into the presence of the Lord, or hinder your advancement in the things of God. The definition of insanity is to continue to do the same things and expect a different result. If your goal is to be in the presence of the Father and to be changed from glory to glory, then you won’t let anything stop you from getting there. Not even you.

Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:

Father, I thank You for the many ways I have access to You. I can speak in tongues and the Holy Spirit makes intercession for me. I can speak to You in the natural and make my requests known to You. I can pray the scripture and allow the word to govern my request to You. I can come boldly before Your throne. I thank You for being able to worship You in tongues and with my understanding. I thank You because every pathway into Your presence is available to me. I repent for allowing anything and anyone to stop, redirect, or put shackles on me. I will respond as I am moved by You. I will come to You with whatever request I want. I know You will answer me and teach me how to celebrate Your answer. I want to be changed into Your image and I will allow You to change me…

Ask the lord what he wants to say to you about today’s devotional and journal it here:
