1 John 5:18 We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. (NLT)
Is your love for God governing your behavior?
Being in the presence of God causes you to continue to examine yourself. It is not the image of the little devil sitting on one shoulder and the angel sitting on the other shoulder. It is you, every day, looking at who you are and deciding you want to live a life that honors God. Whenever the devil whispers in your ear and tells you are failing; don’t let him lie to you and don’t believe the lies. Always know Jesus holds you securely. He understands your emotions and what motivates you to respond and/or react. He ever lives to make intercession for you. He died to take failure out of the picture for you. When you live with the assurance of God’s keeping power, you don’t make a practice of sinning.
Ezekiel 18:20a, “The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (KJV)
Have you noticed the King James version of the Bible uses “eth” at the end of a word? Those three letters indicate something is being done continuously, purposefully and by design; it designates a practice. “Sinneth” means you continue to sin, without regard for the word or anything else. 1 John 5:18 states God’s children don’t live that way. The reason you don’t make a practice of sinning is because the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you and is there to not only comfort you, to guide you, and instruct you as well.
Isaiah 30:20-21 Even though the Lord may allow you to go through a season of hardship and difficulty, he himself will be there with you. He will not hide himself from you, for your eyes will constantly see him as your Teacher. 21 When you turn to the right or turn to the left, you will hear his voice behind you to guide you, saying, “This is the right path; follow it.” (TPT)
The Holy Spirit will help you continually evaluate your behavior. If you adhere to His instruction and follow His guidance, you will live as God desires.
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Father, the life I live, I live in You. As I come to You in prayer, in worship, and in meditation, You show me my life, my actions, and my thoughts. You let me know when I am a blessing to You. I repent for the times when You showed me I was not. Thank You. You have given me the Holy Spirt Who continually teaches me how to make choices that honor You. Because You have also given me free will, it is my choice to follow His leadings. I am no longer in the practice of doing things against Your will and against Your word because I am Your child. When I stumble, I repent and You give me chance after chance to get it right. Every day that I open my eyes is another chance You’ve given me to honor You. As long as I am breathing, You give me the opportunity to draw closer to You and leave the world behind. Thank You for the Holy Spirit and Thank You for Your love…
