Proverbs 2:5

August 21

Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. (NLT)

Do you want to know God more?

Have you ever said, “Lord, I want to know You”?

Psalm 103:7 He made known His ways [of righteousness and justice] to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. (AMP)

What made Moses different? Why did God show Moses His ways? Why were the children of Israel only privy to His acts? Moses’ initial meeting with the Lord established a relationship of reverential fear.

Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. (KJV)

Because of their relationship, Moses learned the why of God, not just the what. The difference between Moses and the children of Israel was his reverence and desire for God.

Exodus 33:13a Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways so that I may know You [becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with You, recognizing and understanding Your ways more clearly] and that I may find grace and favor in Your sight. (AMP)

God does not want you to fear Him in a phobic or scary sense. He wants reverence, where you recognize His power and authority and give Him the worship and respect, He is due. He wants you to recognize a relationship with Him and knowledge of Him will cost you. Is this your heart’s cry?

Philippians 3:10 [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] (AMP)

Is your relationship, with the Lord, one where you know when and how God has moved? Is your communion close enough for you to see His hands at work? Are God’s friend? Draw closer and the answer you give to all these questions will be yes.

John 15:15 I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.] (AMPC)

You want to draw closer to the Father to understand what He requires of you. You want to draw closer to the Father because you will need Him to help you obey Him. In drawing closer, you will fulfill your desire to know Him more.

Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:

Father God, I want to know You more than anything. I know sometimes I don’t act like it and I repent right now. I understand You require reverential awe, not fear. I don’t want to obey You because I am afraid of what You might do to me. I want to obey because I honor You and I love You. I could not begin to know You until I recognized the magnitude of who You are. When I did, there was only one thing left for me to do; I bowed. I bowed then and I continue to bow now. I bow because I am humbled before You. I bow because I am unworthy and yet You allow me in Your presence. I bow to show You the admiration and honor You are due. You created me to worship You; I do so willingly and with my whole heart. You are the Almighty God, there are none like You. My understanding of who You are allows You to share more of Yourself with me. I can see in my mind, Moses standing in the cleft of the rock as You passed by. You allowed him into a place with You no man had been before. I know You are not a respecter of persons. I can know You like that…
