1 Thessalonians 1:3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV)
Are you ready for your performance review?
In the military, each soldier receives a performance review. The commanding officer assigns proficiency and conduct marks that evaluate how the soldier executed the duties assigned. The marks are also used to determine eligibility for reenlistment, qualification for certain types of duty assignments, the fitness for promotion, and characterization of service upon discharge. You are a soldier in the army of the Lord; you also get performance reviews. You get them on earth, and you will get one when Jesus returns. While on earth, each assignment comes with the review. Do you have to repeat the assignment, or do you go on to the next? After death, on that great day, you will stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (KJV).
Matthew 12:36
36 You can be sure of this: when the day of judgment comes, everyone will be held accountable for every careless word he has spoken. (TPT)
Romans 14:12 Therefore, each one must answer for himself and give a personal account of his own life before God. (TPT)
You will answer for all of you have done, whether good or bad. What will the results of your performance review be? Will you have something to celebrate?
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Father, I am taking a moment to think about the time when I will stand before You and You will hold me accountable for everything I’ve thought, said, and done. Even though I have repented and continue to do so, I will still have to give an answer for my life. I am marking this day, this moment. Today I build an altar, just like the Israelites did, to remember what You have done. You have reminded me; I have to consider what You teach me and what You require of me at all times. The consideration I give should change the way I do things, the choices I make, and the way I live. Today, I am making a spiritual note. I will ask myself if I would be proud to talk about my choices. I love You. I’m grateful You called me to this moment and encouraged me to take this opportunity to spend time meditating on this truth before I stood before You. I will continue to take the time. I can’t undo the past, however, I can certainly live for a better today and the best tomorrow I can imagine…
