Job 2:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. (KJV)
Do you realize the enemy is stalking you?
Make no mistake about it, the enemy knows who you are. He understands, as he watches you, how you normally respond to stress and difficult situations. He takes note of the things you usually do to manage your life, handle situations, deal with problems, etc. Because his job is to steal, kill and destroy, he is looking for the opportunity to catch you unaware.
1 Peter 5:8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. (AMPC)
There is a reason Peter compared the devil to a lion. Not only is the devil the great deceiver; he is also a skilled, confident, and experienced hunter. Like the lion, he patiently stalks his prey, invisible to them. He works best “at night”. By night, I mean when you are doing things you think no one sees. The devil possesses other lion-like attributes, he:
Matthew 4:2-3 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” (NKJV)
Isaiah 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. (NKJV)
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. (NLT)
Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended every [the complete cycle of] temptation, he [temporarily] left Him [that is, stood off from Him] until another more opportune and favorable time. (AMPC)
Romans 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled and bewildered by them]. I do not practice what I want to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate [and yielding to my human nature, my worldliness—my sinful capacity]. (AMP)
Like the lion, he is constantly watching, looking for some opening into your life where he can try to wreak havoc and devour you. Your responsibility is to be on your guard. However, if he catches you from time to time, while in his grasp, you can call out for help.
Psalm 91:15 I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will feel my presence in your time of trouble. I will deliver you and bring you honor. (TPT)
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Father, in the name of Jesus, I come thanking You for helping me recognize the enemy for who he is. He is unrelenting in his pursuit of me and is continually devising ways to destroy me. I also know I have to be just as unrelenting in my pursuit of You. I repent and ask You to please forgive me when I am not. Help me see the doors I have opened for the enemy to walk in and out of at will. Do in me what is necessary to be done and those doors will be closed permanently. Help me recognize my part. When he tries to get the upper hand, help me see how far You have brought me. Help me use his tactics against him and in Your favor. I commit to be more diligent in my walk and I thank You in advance for victory…
