Matthew19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. (KJV)
Have you gone away sad?
When you are inspired to go to the Lord and ask what He would have of you; be ready for the answer. To say you surrender all sounds wonderful and is the response that strong worship, praise and prayer invoke.
Psalm 37:4-6 Seek your happiness in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desire. 5 Give yourself to the Lord; trust in him, and he will help you; 6 he will make your righteousness shine like the noonday sun. (GNT)
Please understand, it is in the next level of warfare where God gives you what you asked Him for. You get more of Him, more insight, more revelation, and things change.
John 14:12-13 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name [as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son. (AMP)
Will the devil just move to the side and allow you to walk in this deeper place? No, it may even seem to you that the enemy is attacking you more often and with greater intensity. Have you convinced yourself that problems at home have doubled, on the job have tripled, and at church have quadrupled? When you answered God’s call, you promised to do whatever God said. Now that you have found out only some of what God requires and what type of war you have to fight; what do you do? Do you change your mind because the battle is “more than you can bear”? Do you ask the Lord to allow you to stop and pick this up when you are better equipped to handle it? Do you strengthen your resolve, dig in, and see the salvation of the Lord?
Psalm 27:13-14 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! (NKJV)
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Father, I am often surprised at Your answer when I ask You, “What do You want me to do?” I confess I used to hope it was something I already thought You would require. I repent for trying to direct Your process. I am older and I pray wiser now. I don’t want to go away sad when Your answer is, “Get up early every morning and talk to Me”. “Lift My name everywhere You go, no matter the response.” “Be encouraging to someone who is belittling or mishandling You.” “Give an extra 10% in tithes and offering today”. “Ask someone to forgive You when they are at fault.” The greatest gift I can give; the greatest response I can have to Your answer, is to say yes. I have to “want to” allow Your love to shine through me by being obedient. I don’t want to go away sad. I want to go away rejoicing and living out Your will for my life…
