Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (KJV)
Are you allowing the Father to search your heart?
Often you have thoughts you feel are perfectly okay. You follow those thoughts through to actions, interactions, and decisions. Sometimes, when you look back, the end results of your actions, interactions and/or decisions are not what you thought they would be. Do you say “it seemed like a good idea at the time”?
Proverbs 14:12 You can rationalize it all you want and justify the path of error you have chosen, but you’ll find out in the end that you took the road to destruction. (TPT)
It is great to have the Heavenly Father help you see what really lies in your thoughts and where your thoughts will take you. When He looks into your heart, what will He find? Will He find a heart that:
You want the Lord to search your heart and find these attributes. If He does, He guarantees your victory in this spiritual warfare. He will take care of you.
James 1:25 But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice—you will be blessed by God in what you do. (GNT)
When God, through His word, is the basis for your thoughts, you won’t make decisions without guidance; you will ask.
Please agree with me as I pray. Then ask the Lord what your prayer should be and wait for His response:
Heavenly Father, I ask You to search me through and through. Please expose those secret and hidden things in me that drive my behavior. Shine the light on those emotional habits that end in my disappointment and hurt. I repent for not asking You to search my heart every day. I know I need You to show me what is not like You. Please lead me to a place in You that stands above anything else in my life. Do in me what You have to do. I want You to be glorified by my choices…
